Alzheimer's Society and Alzheimer Scotland, supporting the Live Well Campaign, is Lloyds Banking Group's charity partner for 2013 and 2014. Working together with the charities we aim to raise £2million to fund the first UK wide dementia carers programme. The programme will give 9,000 carers the information and skills they need to help their loved one to live well with dementia.
By 2020 over 1 million people in the UK will have dementia. Alzheimer's Society is the UK’s leading support and research charity for people with dementia, their families and carers. Together with our partner charity, Alzheimer Scotland, we are leading the fight against dementia.
Lloyds Banking Group colleagues recognise the importance of supporting a UK wide dementia carers programme. With one in three people over the age of 65 developing dementia, supporting family members that care for their loved ones is vitally important.
Chamelle's mum Trisha was just 38 when she was diagnosed with vascular dementia. When asked about the Live Well Campaign Trisha said "As a carer, there is just no support. It would be good to have the opportunity to meet other people in a similar situation, to share experiences and find that those experiences were normal, to discuss ideas on how to cope, to cry and sometimes to get angry together.
"Anything that Lloyds Banking Group colleagues can do to support the Live Well Campaign to make things better would be fantastic."
Throughout 2013 and 2014 our colleagues will be undertaking all sorts of activities to help reach our fundraising target of £2million for the Live Well Campaign.
