Lloyds Scholars

The Lloyds Scholars programme, run by Lloyds Banking Group, has been developed to encourage and support young people from below average income families to study at leading academic and research universities.
We firmly believe that everyone, regardless of their background, should have the opportunity of a first-class education at a top university.  We hope that Lloyds Scholars will help to open those doors to students who otherwise, may not have had the financial backing required to attend.

Our Partner Universities

Lloyds Banking Group is proud to have piloted the Lloyds Scholars programme with the University of Bristol and the University of Sheffield.  In 2012 we will expand Lloyds Scholars to include four more universities, the first of which will be Edinburgh University. Further additions will be announced in the near future.

Eligibility

To be considered for a place on the Lloyds Scholars programme, students must have a confirmed place at a participant university and have a household income below £25,000. They will also be required to successfully complete a Lloyds Banking Group assessment.

Lloyds Scholars Benefits

Lloyds Scholars will provide students with support for their academic and vocational development, offering a complete financial and support package, which includes:

• Annual bursary payments to help with living costs and study materials
• Additional annual cash awards based on academic achievement
• End of course excellence awards for top scholars
• Paid summer internships with Lloyds Banking Group
• Mentoring and development of a support network with senior employees of Lloyds Banking Group
• Cohort activities to develop employability and broader transferable skills
• Access to Lloyds’ graduate recruitment programme for top scholars
  In return, scholars will:
• Volunteer a minimum of 100 hours each year in the local community
• Actively promote and champion the Lloyds Scholars programme to future generations in schools
