Scotland’s rural savers hit that saving habit

Savers in rural Scotland are not only outsaving their counterparts in urban areas but are also managing to put away more in relation to their earnings, according to latest research from Bank of Scotland.

Savers in rural areas have an average balance of £8,805, almost £2,000 – or 29% - more than savers in urban areas (£6,846). Rural savers in Scotland have an average savings balance equivalent to 37% of their gross annual earnings – 10 percentage points more than urban savers who have an average balance of 27% of their earnings.
