Bank of Scotland Corporate in Liverpool has announced four new senior appointments in a move which signals the bank's intent to increase market share.
Based in the bank's Princes Parade corporate offices on the banks of the Mersey, Ian Henry and Alistair Pike join the Liverpool commercial team as Directors focusing on bringing in new business. Ian joins from the Commercial Banking team in Manchester whilst Alistair joins from the bank's real estate team. Both Ian and Alistair report into Alastair Donald, Area Director for Liverpool.
Steve Johnson also arrives from Capital Bank as an Associate Director whilst Dave Bridgen joins as an Associate Director from the bank's asset finance team in Newcastle.
Since first setting up a Corporate office in Liverpool in 2002 with only three people, the business is now thirty nine strong, with every team member dedicated to supporting the local business community. Bank of Scotland Corporate recently exchanged contracts to occupy 3,600 sq ft on the ground floor and 8,350 sq.ft of the first floor of No 5 St Paul’s Square at the heart of Liverpool’s new commercial core. Staff will be relocating from existing offices in Castle Street and Princes Dock offices to the new flagship premises at St Paul's Square with further room for expansion.
The Bank's successful growth within Liverpool's corporate market was rewarded internally at the end of 2007 with the 'team of the year' accolade at the bank's commercial conference. The award was given in recognition of the fact that the team brought on more than sixty new businesses during 2007, including well-known local firms such as Greenberg Glass and GoodLife Foods. The team was also involved in some of the city's biggest deals this year, including the £65.5 million reverse takeover by entrepreneurial brothers Sudarghara and Ajmail Dusanj of AIM-listed pub operator Cains Beer Company Plc.
The expansion of the bank's Liverpool office is part of a national drive by Bank of Scotland Corporate to increase market share across England & Wales.
Alastair Donald, Area Director for Commercial Banking in Liverpool said:
"I'm delighted to welcome all the new recruits on board at such an exciting time for Bank of Scotland Corporate. With a high-calibre team in place and a series of market-leading products on offer, we are in a very strong position to increase the volume of Liverpool's mid-market businesses on our books. We've built our reputation on being the bank for entrepreneurs and I'm confident that this reputation, combined with a first class team of bankers, will help us achieve our growth objectives over the coming year."
