Minority of English regions experience output growth in August
12 September 2011
Today’s release of Lloyds TSB regional Purchasing Managers’ Index®(PMI®) data points to weakening business conditions across all nine English regions in August. London maintained its position as the fastest growing region, but its pace of expansion slowed sharply since July. Meanwhile, the East of England, East Midlands and West Midlands also saw weaker rises in business activity. Looking further down the performance table, South East business activity stagnated in August and the remaining English regions all registered their first falls in private sector output for over two years.
