Lloyds Bank Commercial Banking, has been named “Best Business Bank of the Year” for the twelfth year running at the prestigious FDs’ Excellence Awards, created by Real Business.

The awards also recognised Mark Newman as Banker of the year – a relationship director in the South West region who looks after clients with a turnover from £25m to £750m.

Votes were cast by more than 1,800 FDs of the UK’s leading SME and mid-sized companies, who were independently canvassed about the services and support they received from their banks. The Business Bank of the Year takes into account the level of service, the right funding solutions and specialised financial expertise on offer to these FDs.

Tim Hinton, Managing Director, Mid Markets and SME Banking, Lloyds Banking Group said: “We’re absolutely delighted to win the FD’s Business Bank of the Year award for the 12th year running.  This is the strongest possible endorsement from our clients and their Finance Directors of the work we are doing to support the many businesses that are the driving the UK economy.

“We remain committed to help companies, of all sizes and sectors, across the UK to meet their growth ambitions through the wide variety of support that Lloyds Banking Group can offer.”

The award follows a number of commitments made by Lloyds Banking Group in its Helping Britain Prosper Plan to help UK businesses start up, scale up and trade internationally.

The Group has committed to increase its net lending to SME and Mid Market companies by £2 billion each year as well as help 5,000 new exporters every year until 2010. This will support the Government’s aim to help 100,000 businesses export for the first time as part of its Exporting is GREAT campaign.
