LOCATION(S): Edinburgh

HOURS: [Full-time]

About this opportunity…

Exciting opportunity for a Software Engineer to work in our International & CHAPS Lab providing payment options for all of our customers. Specifically, to support our new industry-leading International Payments Platform (IPP). Our strategic roadmap includes a Payments Industry product called Global Payments Plus (GPP). This product is being used to deliver key revenue streams as well as enable mandatory compliance.

The I&C Lab sits in our Payment Services Platform (PSP), where our mission is to provide compliant and efficient payments capabilities for the Group and drive innovation to enable customers to move money confidently, quickly and securely.

About us…

Like the modern Britain we serve, we’re evolving. Investing billions in our people, data and tech to transform the way we meet the ever-changing needs of our 26 million customers. We’re growing with purpose. Join us on our journey and you will too…

What you’ll do…

What follows is what you might find our Software Engineer mostly doing, but your experience will flex depending on the team’s needs, and your own aspirations. Our objective is to grow and create an environment where you can do what you enjoy.

Here’s how you’ll make a difference…

You'll be a Software Engineer preferably with International SWIFT and Payments experience with previous knowledge of integrating, introducing, and supporting 3rd Party packages, including bespoke solution configuration and rules-based engineering into a Payments production environment.

  • Adept solutions designer and problem solver.

  • Proven experience using these technologies would be advantageous: GPP, Java EE (J2EE), SQL, Oracle, Unix/Linux, MQ, WebSphere.

  • Experience in use of Agile and DevOps tooling is essential.

What we need from you…

  • You’ll ideally have exposure to Springboot Microservices or API’s although this isn’t mandatory as we can teach this as long as your Java skills are to a suitable level.

  • You’ll have all-around knowledge of the software development lifecycle, ideally within a modern Agile engineering function.

  • You’ll have good communication & teamwork skills.

  • You'll have good problem-solving skills within a technical environment.

  • You'll be able to work with 3rd party supplier to drive defect management.

  • You'll be able to support planning and implementing production changes.

  • Ensuring solutions meet the necessary requirements.

Our focus is to ensure we are inclusive every day, building an organisation that reflects modern society and celebrates diversity in all its forms. We want our people to feel that they belong and can be their best, regardless of background, identity, or culture. We were one of the first major organisations to set goals on diversity in senior roles, create a menopause health package, and a dedicated Working with Cancer initiative. And it is why we especially welcome applications from under-represented groups. We are disability confident. So, if you would like reasonable adjustments to be made to our recruitment processes, just let us know.

We also offer a wide-ranging benefits package, which includes:

•            A generous pension contribution of up to 15%

•            An annual performance-related bonus

•            Share schemes including free shares.

•            Benefits you can adapt to your lifestyle, such as discounted shopping.

•            28 days’ holiday, with bank holidays on top

•            A range of wellbeing initiatives and generous parental leave policies
