Job Title:  Senior Software Engineer – Full Stack
Salary:  £68,202 - £90,936 pa.

Location:  Edinburgh, Manchester, Leeds, Halifax, Bristol
Hours:  Full time
Working Pattern: Hybrid, 40% (or two days) in the office per week

We’re always looking for good Software Engineers!  You’ll be taken through a centralised application, technical testing, and interviewing process, then if successful offered one of our available roles depending on your chosen location.
 

We currently have a number of Software Engineering positions available across a range of locations in the UK.

About the role

  • Work as part of a self-organised engineering team to design and develop software features or services that are delightful and vital in our mission to help Britain prosper.
  • Be at the heart of delivery in your team building features with a passion for evolving best practices within your community.
  • Work with the product and engineering leads to achieve the vision and customer outcomes for your Lab, through writing well-factored and tested code.
  • Be curious about technology and understanding how things work. You'll influence positively demonstrating the right values and behaviours as we improve how we deliver.
  • You’ll  Love to solve Customer’s problems using technology and engineering practices
  • You'll lead, direct and shape approaches to solving technical challenges and translating business requirements into technical solutions.
  • Build efficient and reusable front-end and back-end systems and abstractions.

What you’ll need

Essential

  • Experience with any of the following – Java, Golang, Spring, Spring Boot, Microservices, HTML, CSS, JavaScript libraries and tooling, such as Reactjs, Redux, Webpack
  • Grasp of system design and scalable architecture
  • Knowledge of modern software development toolsets including Cloud hosting, Containers, Kubernetes, API’s, DevOps Continuous Integration and Delivery.
  • Experience working on any one of the cloud-based tools, GCP, Azure or AWS.

Desirable

  • You’re able to effectively communicate and work together across engineering to maximise inner-sourcing opportunities and reduce waste.
  • Diverse technical experience and a proven ability to deliver high quality applications at scale
  • Agile experience and excellent problem-solving skills
  • Strong experience of the entire software development lifecycle and experience in delivery of software.
  • You’re an advocate for quality and can support the team leveraging approaches such as Pair Programming, TDD and BDD.
