Job description

JOB TITLE: Associate - Global Banks & Specialist Finance - Institutional Coverage
LOCATION: London, 10 Gresham Street

HOURS: Full Time
WORKING PATTERN: Our work style is hybrid, which involves spending at least three days per week, or 60% of our time, at our London office.

About the role

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Associate to join the Global Banks team. This role will be focused on the coverage segment of Global Banks & Specialist finance team, a fast paced and deal orientated segment of the bank – which is at the forefront of Lloyds’ new growth strategy.

You’ll be primarily supporting the MD, RD and AD on a material client portfolio consisting of UK Banks, South African Banks, Irish Banks and UK Building Societies – helping deepen the existing relationships, bringing the bank’s solutions to the client and support overall objective of becoming “trusted strategic partners” to these clients. In addition to this, you’ll also receive the opportunity to manage certain clients from the beginning, providing an opportunity to own and build relationships.

The role will require close collaboration with senior partners and business owners across several key product areas – most specifically Payments, Trade Finance, Financial Markets, Debt Capital Markets and Group Partner. Therefore, a collaborative nature and intrinsic interest to learn more about these areas will be a meaningful attribute for any prospective candidate.

Additionally, you'll also be part of the wider Global Banks & Specialist Finance team, therefore there will be requirement at times to support on other segments & team priorities, providing a broader opportunity to develop skills and showcase your abilities.

Given the varied nature of clients across the portfolio, you'll need to be a motivated self-starter with the desire to quickly understand your new role and clients. Whilst also working collaboratively with product partners and credit, to help implement a strategic plan to achieve objectives across the client base.

What you’ll be doing

Once up to speed with the broader portfolio, you’ll be given the opportunity to:

  • Co-manage a portfolio of client relationships as mentioned above
  • Participate in pitching new lines of business, recommending, and implementing solutions
  • Collaborate with product partners and Client Services to respond to client needs in a timely manner, raising where appropriate in a time-pressured environment
  • Work alongside senior RM team to deliver large projects, initiatives, and transactions
  • Administer the annual renewal process for the portfolio, engaging with business partners and credit risk
  • Challenge processes and find new ways of working to help craft a more efficient, client focussed team
  • Ensure legal and other documentation is aligned with credit sanction, Bank and Regulatory policy to minimise risk

Why Lloyds Banking Group?

  • Product Knowledge – Understanding of the key product suite that Lloyds can offer both from Lloyds Bank and Lloyds Bank Corporate Markets
  • Collaboration – a great teammate who can take the broader view for the benefit of those they work with
  • Influencing – ability to influence and persuade the Commercial Bank across the Cube and wider Group leadership teams as appropriate
  • Communication – ability to communicate effectively at all levels and across different audiences both internally and externally
  • Regulatory – an interest in the different regulatory framework/requirements within which the Banks and Building societies operate
  • Risk Management & Control – the ability to identify, assess, monitor, control and mitigate risks.  An awareness and understanding of the main risks facing the business and the role the individual plays in managing them
