JOB TITLE: Lawyer, Litigation & Contentious Regulatory
SALARY: £87,552 - £97,280
HOURS: Full time
LOCATION(S): Edinburgh, Bristol, Leeds, Chester, Cardiff and Halifax
WORKING PATTERN: Our work style is hybrid, which involves spending at least two days per week, or 40% of our time, at one of our office sites.

This is an exciting opportunity to join us. We’re looking for a conscientious and proactive Lawyer to join our Litigation & Contentious Regulatory (LCR) team, part of the wider Legal & Secretariat (L&S) division. This is a rare opportunity for a highly motivated individual to work in a supportive in-house litigation and contentious team.
You'll join the LCR team as a Lawyer. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work on the one of the most extensive and exciting contentious portfolios in the financial services sector, alongside our excellent and collaborative team. Under our new structure, you will work with a variety of colleagues and stakeholders on a range of litigation and contentious regulatory matters.
This role will provide you with an outstanding opportunity to further your ongoing personal and professional development.
Key responsibilities:
Initially, deliver litigation and contentious support for the LCR team on a Group-wide basis.
Working collaboratively with peers, as well as more senior and more junior colleagues, you will be the responsible for managing all aspects of your caseload,
Strategic case management, briefing and influencing key senior stakeholders, and managing external panel law firms.
Support business areas in identifying and resolving legal risks.
Act as legal representative in business/divisional projects, supporting other team members and non-contentious legal colleagues.
Identify and develop protocols to improve the efficiency of litigation and contentious regulatory management.
Supervise and mentor more junior team members.

What you’ll need
You’ll need to be legally qualified in England & Wales, Scotland, or with an equivalent legal qualification, and with a current legal practising certificate.
Excellent understanding of dispute resolution.
Previous experience as a litigator in a law firm and/or in-house, ideally in the banking and financial services sector.
Sound understanding of the legal, technical, and procedural factors affecting contentious matters.
Ability to clearly and concisely communicate ideas, risks, and strategies – both orally and in written form.
Ability to build trusting and collaborative relationships.
Strong organisational skills and good attention to detail.
Experience of regulatory investigation would be beneficial, but not essential.
