Job description

As the Senior Engineering Manager, you will be the driving force behind the technical integrity and operational excellence of our entire property portfolio. This is a strategic leadership role where you will define, implement, and govern engineering standards that ensure every asset operates safely, efficiently, and in full compliance with regulatory requirements.

You will provide strategic oversight of all engineering systems and infrastructure, setting the benchmark for performance, resilience, and sustainability. Ensuring consistency across assets, embedding best practice in design, maintenance, and lifecycle management. From energy efficiency and smart building technologies to critical systems reliability, you will lead initiatives that reduce risk, optimise cost, and enhance the colleague and customer experience.

This role is about more than compliance; it’s about innovation and continuous improvement. You will champion the adoption of emerging technologies, data-driven maintenance strategies, and sustainable engineering solutions that future-proof our portfolio. Acting as a trusted advisor to senior stakeholders, you will influence major investment decisions and represent engineering in governance forums, ensuring that technical excellence underpins every property decision.

Role Profile:
The Senior Engineering Manger is a pivotal role within our Construction Standards team, which oversees the engineering integrity of the Group’s core data centres, international offices, customer branch network, and UK Office Hub locations. You’ll lead the development and implementation of our MEP engineering standards, ensuring they drive compliance, resilience, and sustainability across our diverse estate.

You’ll work closely with colleagues in asset investment, IT operations, security, sustainability, and project delivery to ensure our engineering services support the Group’s long-term growth and transformation. With ongoing investment in our retail estate to create great spaces for colleagues and customers, and significant upgrades to our office hub locations, this role offers the opportunity to shape the future of our built environment.

The role also includes a supporting responsibility for our core data centre facilities, which are critical to the Group’s operations. Experience in critical infrastructure management is therefore highly desirable. A passion for transforming building services management through software, automation, and AI is also desirable. • Maintain a register of engineering risks and ensure mitigation plans are in place.
  • Collaborate with Workplace Experience, Capital Projects, and external consultants/suppliers to ensure consistent application of engineering standards.
  • Act as a technical authority and advisor to senior leadership and operational teams. Representing the organisation in industry forums and regulatory engagements.
