Sara Weller CBE
Sara joined the Board in February 2012. With a background in retail and associated sectors, including financial services, Sara brings a broad perspective to the Board.
She has strong board governance experience including investor relations and remuneration. Sara is a strong advocate of customers, the community, financial inclusion and the development of digital skills all of which directly support Lloyds Banking Group’s strategy.
Sara has considerable experience of boards at both executive and non-executive level. She has an MA in Chemistry from Oxford University.
Sara is a Non-Executive Director of BT Group plc and a member of their Audit & Risk, Nominations, and Digital Impact & Sustainability committees. She is also Chair of the Remuneration Committee of New College, Oxford and a Trustee of Lloyds Bank Foundation for England & Wales.
Sara was a Non-Executive Director of United Utilities Group, Chair of their Remuneration Committee and a member of their Nomination Committee, and was also the Lead Non-Executive Director at the Department for Work and Pensions. She was formerly the Managing Director of Argos and held various senior positions at J Sainsbury including Deputy Managing Director and served on its Board between January 2002 and May 2004.
She was Chairman of the Planning Inspectorate, Lead Non-Executive Director at the Department of Communities and Local Government, a Board member at the Higher Education Funding Council, a Governing Council Member of Cambridge University and a Non-Executive Director of Mitchells & Butlers and also held senior management roles for Abbey National and Mars Confectionery.
Sara is Chair of the Responsible Business Committee and a Member of the Board Risk Committee, the Remuneration Committee and the Nomination and Governance Committee.
