Job description

JOB TITLE: Media Relations Manager (FTC)
SALARY: London £72,702 - £80,780 | Regional £61,344 - £68,160
LOCATION(S): London, Bristol, Birmingham, Edinburgh, Halifax, Leeds
HOURS: Full-time
WORKING PATTERN: Our work style is hybrid, which involves spending at least two days per week, or 40% of our time, at one of our office sites.

About this Opportunity

An experienced and enthusiastic media relations manager is needed to join our Group Media Relations team for a 12-month fixed-term contract. The position involves supporting our Consumer and Insurance, Pensions, and Investments businesses.

You'll work across a diverse range of topics and collaborators, helping to protect and strengthen the Group's reputation while gaining coverage through national, broadcast, regional, and trade media. No two days are the same. We're looking for someone who enjoys variety, thrives under pressure, and is ready to make an impact from day one.

This is a busy, hands-on position at the core of Lloyds Banking Group's press office. You'll manage prominent media campaigns, respond to fast-moving media enquiries, and develop chances to place stories on the news agenda.

Insurance, Pensions and Investments represents a key expansion sector for Lloyds Banking Group and encompasses Scottish Widows, our General Insurance operations, and our Investment teams.

This role primarily supports our Insurance, Pensions and Investments business, but our adaptable team works across the entire Lloyds Banking Group. Opportunities exist to contribute bank-wide.

You'll help tell stories about retirement, protection, investing, and digital innovation. These stories explain how we help more people control their finances and plan confidently for the future.

Group Corporate Affairs (GCA) is an award-winning team that offers the insight, advice, and challenge the Group requires to achieve its strategic objectives. We provide outstanding communications for key audiences, ensuring Lloyds Banking Group is recognised for Helping Britain Prosper.

Key responsibilities

  • Lead and deliver proactive media campaigns that secure high-quality coverage and support business priorities.

  • Handle media enquiries in a fast-paced news environment, providing clear and timely responses.

  • Develop solid connections with journalists from national, broadcast, regional, and trade media.

  • Collaborate closely with PR agencies, Group Corporate Affairs colleagues, and business teams to provide coordinated communications activity.

  • Identify emerging issues and provide media advice that helps manage reputation and risk.

  • Identify chances to create favourable coverage and introduce new concepts to the news agenda.

Why join us?

  • Established relationships across relevant media and confidence working with journalists.

  • Strong news judgment and the capability to recognize stories that will connect with various audiences.

  • Strong communication abilities, capable of conveying complex subjects clearly and engagingly.

  • Comfortable managing multiple priorities, responding quickly to changing demands and working at pace in a dynamic environment.

  • A collaborative approach and the confidence to build relationships with a wide range of collaborators.

  • Someone who can rapidly become proficient, assume responsibility, and deliver results from the very first day.

  • AI literacy: a curious outlook and proven experience of responsibly using AI to drive efficiency and enhance creativity.
