Crisis partnership

We're partnering with Crisis, the UK national charity for people experiencing homelessness.

Across the UK, 227,000 households are facing the worst forms of homelessness. A further 1.8 million households on low incomes are living in poor conditions, experiencing damp, mould and overcrowding.

That’s why we’re partnering with Crisis, and working with Simon Community in Northern Ireland. Driven by our purpose of Helping Britain Prosper, we want to ensure that everyone has a safe and affordable home. Not only is it the right thing to do, but it creates a stronger and more productive society and benefits everyone.

Together, we're calling for the UK to build 1 million more homes for social rent by 2033.

Our partnership in action

Calling on government

Together with Crisis, we're calling for the UK to build 1 million more homes for social rent by 2033.

We do this by working with our housing association clients and lobbying the government.

Fundraising

Over £4m has been raised by our colleagues since April 2023.

Thousands of colleagues have participated in fundraising activities, including Wear it Red for Valentine’s Day, 12- or 20-mile City Walks, and 2024’s Atlas Mountain trek, which raised over £500,000 alone.

Changing Lives

Crisis' Changing Lives grant programme helps people experiencing homelessness to progress into education, employment and to start up small businesses.

So far, we’ve helped to fund over 110 grants and our colleagues are volunteering as mentors to grantees coming through the programme.

Examples of grants

Good Place Lettings

Our fundraising has helped Crisis to launch Good Place Lettings, a new social enterprise lettings agency improving access to affordable, quality homes for individuals who might otherwise be locked out of the private rental market. Good Place Lettings follows the successful model of Homes for Good in Glasgow.

Colleague volunteering

More than 1,300 colleagues have volunteered with Crisis, logging over 8,000 hours since the partnership began in 2023.

Homelessness Alliance

In 2024, we were proud to sign up to the Homelessness Alliance (formerly known as the Homelessness Covenant), developed by Crisis and the DWP (Department for Work and Pensions) and DLUHC (Department for Levelling up, Housing and Communities). This is a pledge by employers to prevent and end homelessness through inclusive and supportive employment practices.

This includes providing employment and training opportunities for people at risk of, or experiencing homelessness, adopting fairer recruitment and employment opportunities, and helping end homelessness in communities through raising awareness, fundraising, and volunteering.
