What you’ll be doing
The Portfolio Management (PM) team exists to build and optimise LBG's Commercial Banking portfolio, which includes Business & Commercial Banking (BCB) and Corporate & Institutional Banking (CIB) lending.

The team is responsible for delivering an efficient use of financial resources (e.g. capital, liquidity, funding) to create space to do more with our clients, whilst improving value for shareholders.

Key to achieving this is our Structured Distribution team within PM. Our team is responsible for developing, executing and managing a range of structured transactions which aim to increase origination capacity, reduce risk and increase returns. This includes risk distribution / mitigation techniques, including the purchase of credit risk mitigation tools: Credit Risk Insurance and Credit Default Swaps.

We have a new exciting Associate opportunity where you'll support the execution of these tools, maximising limits available and enabling additional business to be written!
This role is an excellent opportunity to work on credit risk mitigation initiatives. These initiatives span Commercial & Institutional Banking (CIB) and Business & Commercial Banking (BCB), focusing on optimising the portfolio in terms recycling bank limits.

This role will enable you to:

• Become a key part of the Structured Distribution team, working to manage and improve our credit risk mitigation tools on behalf of the Commercial Bank
• Upskill specifically in the use of Credit Risk Insurance and Credit Default Swaps
• Engage with colleagues across Coverage, Product, Credit, Finance and Treasury to deploy credit risk mitigation tools to enable deepening of relationships with clients while reducing the bank’s risk and capital
• Analyse data and intel from multiple sources to drive the development of risk mitigation tools
• Actively maintain relationships with both internal partners and the external market, to provide opportunities for growth
• Develop the Commercial & Institutional Bank’s understanding of risk mitigation tool options, helping to bring these solutions to the forefront of credit and pricing conversations

• Experience within financial services
• Great communication skills (written and oral) with the ability to explain complicated concepts concisely and fully to less familiar audiences

• Able to manage and prioritise multiple deliverables in a timely and effective manner
• Good excel skills with a methodical and analytical approach to decision making

• A desire to learn! This will enable you to understand, evaluate and execute transactions

And any of experience of these would be great:

• A good grasp of our products and services will be beneficial
• Understanding of the Group’s capital management framework
• The ideal candidate would have some knowledge or experience of credit risk mitigation tools.
