Our Helping Britain Prosper Plan aims to tackle some of the social and economic issues facing people, businesses and communities today, over and above our everyday business activities.

Raising educational standards will not only benefit young people but also the communities in which they live and the businesses that rely on recruiting local talent.

Lloyds Scholars, our award-winning social mobility programme aimed at UK students, was established in 2011. In partnership with nine leading universities across the UK, the programme plays an invaluable role in supporting progression into graduate-level employment of talented university students from lower income households.

The Scholars Programme

Lloyds Scholars are provided with a complete package of financial support. In addition, they are given access to paid internships within Lloyds Banking Group and mentoring for the duration of their time at university – which helps develop employability skills to help boost prospects upon graduation.

In return, we ask that they volunteer 100 hours per academic year for local causes, enabling them to both give back to their local communities whilst further adding to their future employability prospects through the development of new skills.
