JOB TITLE: Cryptography Engineer

LOCATION(S): Edinburgh or Leeds

HOURS: Full time (This role will include a requirement to work as part of a 24x7 on-call rota)

WORKING PATTERN: Our work style is hybrid, which involves spending at least two days per week, or 40% of our time at our location listed above.

About this opportunity

The Chief Security Office (CSO) plays a vital role in delivering Lloyds Banking Group's vision of putting customers at the heart of everything we do, helping Britain prosper, and protecting the Group and its customers and suppliers from security threats.

As an Engineer in our Crypto Software team, you will develop skills to support products such as SafeTronic, SSH UKM, CipherTrust Manager, ProtectV and others. You will bring the knowledge you have gained from your previous experience in supporting security toolsets and awareness of Lloyds Banking Group infrastructure, services and applications such as ServiceNow.

Key responsibilities

  • You will assist with the provision of procedural advice & queries from other business areas relating to cryptography and crypto toolsets.

  • Performs standard and non-routine administrative data processing tasks to collate MI for leadership and gives colleagues advice on the accurate performance of services.

  • Assisting with the review of non-compliance issues and risks relating to procedures and guidelines.

  • Creation of reporting using information collated from the data management system, Service Now.

  • Assisting with the drafting of documents by using multiple computer applications (such as Microsoft Office), while also capturing and summarising data for reports.

What you’ll need

  • Encryption key management as applied to virtual machine storage (VMware- vSAN) for data at rest encryption

  • An in-depth knowledge of the deployment and usage of KMIP keys in cloud and non-cloud environments using CipherTrust Manager 

  • SSH key management by using Universal Key Manager

  • Oracle database encryption key management

  • You will have the ability to work on your own initiative, and you will assist senior SMEs in the design and implementation of new initiatives and support of legacy services and applications

  • You will show the aptitude to acquire the skills to run and coordinate the maintenance and support of one or more Cyber Security tools and/or processes.
