About this opportunity
We’re looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join our Prudential & Analytics Platform, supporting the transformation of our commercial model execution, analytics engines, and enterprise data warehouse!
You’ll play a key role in modernising our cloud‑native analytics and data processing platforms on Google Cloud Platform (GCP), enabling scalable, reliable and data‑driven capabilities that support critical pricing, risk and finance functions across the organisation!
This is an opportunity to work on large‑scale analytics platforms, data pipelines and data warehouse solutions, using GCP, Python, SQL and modern DevOps practices. Your work will contribute directly to delivering high‑quality analytical services used across the Group.
What you’ll do
As part of a multi-functional feature team, you’ll:
Design, build and deliver cloud‑native software and data engineering solutions on Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
Modernise legacy analytics capabilities into automated, observable and scalable cloud services.
Build and maintain data pipelines, analytics engines and enterprise data warehouse solutions.
Optimise BigQuery workloads, including performance tuning and cost optimisation.
Support containerised deployments using Docker and Kubernetes.
Contribute to CI/CD pipelines, DevOps tooling and automation to improve engineering quality and reliability.
Collaborate closely with data scientists, analysts, architects and engineering peers.
Contribute to engineering standards, observability, resilience and platform performance improvements.
What you’ll need
We know no candidate ticks every box. If you meet many of these requirements and are excited by the role, we’d love to hear from you.
Strong software engineering experience (typically 3–5+ years).
Proficiency in Python and SQL.
Hands‑on experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP), ideally including BigQuery, Cloud Composer (Airflow), Cloud Storage, Logs Explorer and Data Catalog.
Experience building or migrating solutions into cloud environments.
Experience with DevOps and CI/CD pipelines, ideally using Harness.
Understanding of containerisation and orchestration, including Docker and Kubernetes.
Experience building scalable data pipelines, analytics platforms or data warehouse solutions.
Experience working in Agile development teams.
Any of the following would be great to see
Broader GCP experience or certification.
Experience with Airflow DAGs, orchestration patterns or distributed compute workloads.
Infrastructure‑as‑code experience (e.g. Terraform, Deployment Manager).
Exposure to data modelling, analytical workload optimisation or ETL / ELT patterns.
Familiarity with observability, logging, monitoring and cost‑optimisation techniques.
Experience collaborating with distributed and multi-functional teams.
Experience with additional languages (e.g. Java, Go or TypeScript).
