JOB TITLE: Assistant Manager - Politically Exposed Persons (PEPs)
SALARY: £44,901 to £49,890
LOCATIONS: Edinburgh
HOURS: Full-Time
WORKING PATTERN: Our work style is hybrid, which involves spending at least two days per week, or 40% of our time, at one of our office sites. Colleagues with disabilities can be supported with workplace adjustments including hybrid working expectations in line with our Flexibility Works policy.
What you’ll be doing
We’re a small, specialist team within the Commercial Banking 1st Line Economic Crime Prevention (ECP) function, with responsibility for managing Politically Exposed Persons (PEPs) risk across Business & Commercial Banking (BCB) and Corporate & Institutional Banking (CIB).
The team is responsible for conducting risk assessments on new and existing PEP relationships, ensuring risks are appropriately identified, assessed, mitigated and escalated in line with policy and regulatory expectations. We’re highly collaborative, encourage continuous improvement, and aim to be best in class amongst our peer banks.
You'll conduct risk assessments on customers believed to have a connection to sanctioned countries/entities and make recommendations to senior management for approval. As a subject matter expert, you'll keep abreast of industry developments and regulation, sharing information across appropriate teams within the division.

What we’re looking for
You’ll bring a strong interest in economic crime risk and a desire to develop your expertise in PEPs, along with:
At least 3 years’ experience working in an Economic Crime Prevention, Financial Crime or Compliance role.
Experience coordinating and prioritising workloads to meet deadlines and service expectations.
Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with Coverage and Economic Crime Prevention colleagues.
And Any Experience of These Would Be Really Useful
Coaching skills and track record of personal development.
Experience of reviews involving Politically Exposed Persons (PEPs)
Experience in the design and implementation of a compliance programme while ensuring adherence to regulatory and compliance standards.
Ability to identify shortcomings, then suggest and implement improvements to existing business practices.
