About this Opportunity
Start your cyber career protecting millions of customers while helping build the bank of the future. As a Junior Detection & Response Engineer in Lloyds Banking Group’s Cyber Defence Centre, you’ll learn hands‑on how to spot, investigate and respond to real cyber threats, supported by experienced engineers who will coach you to succeed. From analysing alerts and tuning detections to learning from live incidents, you’ll build the skills, confidence and judgement needed for a rewarding career in cyber security—while being part of a team that’s innovative, collaborative and committed to putting customers first.
You’ll play a hands on role in protecting the organisation by helping identify suspicious activity, understand incidents, and contribute to an effective incident response through:
• Monitoring and analysing security alerts to identify and escalate genuine cyber threats
• Carrying out initial triage and investigation, gathering evidence from logs, alerts and enrichment sources
• Supporting detection engineering by reviewing alert behaviour, tuning existing detections and documenting expected outcomes
• Using and testing established response playbooks, contributing to improvements where changes are clearly defined
• Assisting with threat hunting and threat modelling, building practical understanding of attacker techniques and behaviours
• Learning from real incidents through post incident reviews and continuous improvement activity
• Working collaboratively with experienced colleagues, maintaining clear investigation notes and sharing knowledge
This role offers early responsibility, structured support and exposure to real world cyber defence—building the skills, judgement and confidence needed for a long term career in security operations.
