Groundbreaking AI developments

We unveiled the UK’s first multi-feature, AI-powered financial assistant, due to go live in early 2026. By harnessing cutting-edge AI, the assistant will transform the way our customers manage their money through the mobile app by providing 24/7 personalised financial coaching.

This launch is a key milestone in our journey to harness the full potential of AI for the business.

Supporting the UK housing market

We’re the UK’s number one direct mortgage lender for first-time buyers, and 70,000 people purchased their first home with our help in 2025. We continue to support the UK housing market in numerous ways, and we aspire to a UK in which all households have access to affordable, safe and sustainable homes in places they want to live.  

Financial empowerment

Empowering our customers to meet their financial goals is just one of the ways that we’re Helping Britain Prosper. In 2025, customers opened more than 3.5 million new savings accounts across our brands, and 76,000 started investing with Ready Made Investments. 

Convenient everyday banking

We became the first major UK bank to launch an app feature which allows cash to be paid in at over 30,000 convenient locations nationwide, through a market-leading partnership with PayPoint.

We also announced that customers of Lloyds, Halifax and Bank of Scotland can now use branches of any brand for their in-person banking, giving them greater choice, flexibility and convenience.

40 years of our charitable Foundations

2025 marked 40 years of our charitable Foundations, founded in 1985 to provide vital support to small and local charities across the UK and Channel Islands, helping to tackle disadvantage in the communities that need it most. Since then, we’ve donated more than £800 million and supported nearly 70,000 small charities.

Pioneering the future of finance

Together with our partners we completed the UK’s first public blockchain transaction of digital assets using tokenised deposits. The tokenisation of deposits can revolutionise traditional banking, and will enable businesses to transact with greater speed, transparency and flexibility.

10 years of the Consumer Digital Index

The 2025 Consumer Digital Index marked the 10th edition of this landmark study of digital and financial capability in the UK. In the refreshed report we explored how people are responding and adapting to AI – one of the most transformative technologies in the digital space.

Farming with nature

We published an industry-leading farming report to help clients tackle climate and nature risk.

Farming with nature: mapping the growth opportunity for UK agriculture is the most comprehensive analysis of its kind – mapping 5.1 million hectares of UK farmland – and demonstrates that sustainable farming is not only environmentally imperative but can be commercially viable.  

Women and Retirement

The Scottish Widows 2025 Women and Retirement Report looks at the unique challenges women face as they plan for retirement. Despite 20 years of progress in reducing the gender pensions gap, there is still work to do. But when women are given the right knowledge, tools and support, we can help them create a more secure future.  

Working to end homelessness

In 2025 we hit £5 million raised to support our charity partners Crisis and Simon Community Northern Ireland. Through fundraising, colleague volunteering, the Changing Lives grant programme and government lobbying, we’re working to end homelessness for good.
