Maria Nazarova-Doyle
Head of Pension Investments, Scottish Widows
As Head of Pensions Investments for Scottish Widows, Maria's role is to look after the pension savings of millions of people.

I joined Lloyds Banking Group in January 2020 as the Head of Pensions Investments for Scottish Widows, one of the Group brands. My role is to look after pension savings of millions of people, working hard to help secure their financial futures in a sustainable way.
The positive impact on people's lives that my work can deliver is a really enjoyable part of the job and something I find extremely motivational. Decisions I make every day contribute to people having a better standard of living in retirement, which is a big responsibility.
The culture here is very open, welcoming and supportive. For the first time in my career I feel like I can be fully myself at work, and feel like I am being valued for the different perspective that I bring. My personality quirks are appreciated – I feel no pressure to conform to a particular standard and enjoy every day at work.
“For the first time in my career I feel like I can be fully myself at work, and feel like I am being valued for the different perspective that I bring.”
I’m particularly proud of the work my team and I have done on two big projects this year:
- Launching the Carbon Transition fund to support the move towards a greener, more sustainable future with an investment of £2 billion.
- Introducing our first investment exclusion policy, which led to a divestment of £440 million from companies who have failed to meet our sustainability standards.
For me, two things stand out that makes Lloyds Banking Group different to other companies; scale and culture. With the scale of the Group, what we all do directly contributes to the prosperity and financial security of people in the UK. It means that our work really makes a difference. The fantastic culture means that Lloyds Banking Group is a truly great place to work where people thrive and can be at their best.
