JOB TITLE: Infrastructure Engineer

SALARY: £47,790 - £53,100

LOCATION(S): Edinburgh, Leeds or Manchester

HOURS: Full-time – 35 hours per week

WORKING PATTERN: Our work style is hybrid, which involves spending at least two days per week, or 40% of our time in the office, either Edinburgh, Leeds or Manchester.

About this opportunity

The focus of this role to provide support, guidance and delivery of Technical Patterns that align with LBG Policy, Strategy.

An opportunity has risen for a Infrastructure Engineer to join our Network Security and Traffic Management Lab within the Core Infrastructure Platform at Lloyds Banking Group. The focus of this role to provide support, guidance and delivery of Technical Patterns that align with LBG Policy, Strategy.

What you’ll do

  • Assist in the design, implementation, maintenance and support of software-defined infrastructure resources.

  • Gain practical experience whilst working on medium-complexity IaC-related activities under the guidance of senior Infra engineers.

  • Identify shortcomings and suggests improvements to existing processes, systems and procedures, then delivers a plan for a small element of a change management programme with guidance from a project/programme manager.

  • Helps others use and benefit from the existing knowledge management systems.

  • Keeps track of risk parameters and identifies and reports any major deviation to more senior colleagues while working within established risk management systems.

  • Analyses specified problems and issues to find the best technical and/or professional solutions.

  • Uses product specifications to design test procedures and standards.

What you’ll need

  • A natural curiosity about technology and its application to customer outcomes, demonstrated by continuous learning and agile practices. Collaborate within teams to foster a culture of cooperation and ownership.

  • Software engineering skills, such as python programming.

  • Infrastructure as Code, experience and understanding of Terraform, Ansible and other infrastructure automation tooling.

  • Agile methodologies and tooling such as Jira and CI/CD pipelines.

  • Experience in modern Cloud based architectures.

  • Knowledge of traditional datacentre hosted architectures.

  • Awareness of emerging technologies and trends.

And any experience of these would be beneficial

  • Technical experience within financial services organisations.

  • Good understanding of Operational Resilience and Security.
