Hampshire-based Portchester Vets expands

Hampshire–based Portchester Vets re-opens

Portchester Vets, based in the town of Portchester near Fareham, was bought in October 2012 by vet Trudy Langdale and practice manager Jane Sykes, who seized the opportunity to open their own business after discovering the premises had come on the market.

We could immediately see the potential to expand the business in order to provide a wider range of care options to patients.

Trudy and Jane identified the opportunity to grow the business, but recognised that the premises would require a complete renovation in order to significantly expand the facilities on offer to patients.

When we first purchased the surgery, the building and its facilities were quite outdated and run down. However we could immediately see the potential to expand the business.

Trudy and Jane received a six-figure loan from Lloyds Bank Commercial Banking to renovate the practice.

Work on the veterinary practice was eventually completed in January 2014, after a severe water leak at the practice initially delayed the opening.

The state-of-the-art surgery now boasts brand new X-ray and ultrasound facilities, a kennels and cattery, isolation wing and dental surgery.  A quiet room has also been installed for nervous patients who find a visit to the vets a stressful experience.

When Trudy and Jane approached us with the plans for the surgery we immediately recognised the business’ potential to grow and offer a more varied range of services to pets and their owners.

Lloyds Bank Commercial Banking’s specialist healthcare team supported the surgery with a personalised six-figure funding package tailored to suit their specialist needs.

The guidance and support we received from our relationship team when faced with delays to the building work has been invaluable. We simply couldn’t have completed the project without them.

The business was provided with a six-figure loan under the Funding for Lending Scheme, allowing the practice to receive a one per cent discount on all payments for the life of the business loan. Since the launch of the scheme launched in September 2012 Lloyds Bank Commercial Banking have committed over £7.5 billion to SME customers.
