JOB TITLE: Data Engineer

SALARY: The salary banding for this role is £47,790 - £53,100

LOCATION: Chester

HOURS: 35 hours, full time

WORKING PATTERN: Our work style is hybrid, which involves spending at least two days per week, or 40% of our time, at one of our office sites.

About this opportunity

We’re recruiting a Data Engineer to help setup the basis of the Data Engineering Team within Embedded Finance.

The Embedded Finance team is a fast-paced start-up group within Consumer Lending and is tasked with building out propositions that solve customers' financial needs, when and where they are. We have just launched our first product, Black Horse Flex Pay, and we're developing innovative products aiming to offer customers and merchants modern ways for online purchasing, with the ethos of Lloyds Banking Group responsible lending.

What will I be doing?

As a Data Engineer, you'll participate in many aspects of the broad EF Data Engineering roadmap, including designing and implementing data pipelines on cloud that will fuel the business insights and decision-making of our product, serving millions of customers.

You’ll develop the data ingestion and transformation pipelines on a Snowflake platform, optimising the data warehousing for performance and scalability.

You’ll participate in the definition and application of the policies for Data Quality, Management, and Security, tailoring Lloyds Banking Group’s established Data Governance standards to the dynamic Embedded Finance environment.

You’ll apply your technical skills and expand your knowledge on Data Engineering with exposure to complex topics, with plenty of opportunity to experiment and enhance your engineering skills.

What you’ll need

  • At least 2 years of experience in Data Engineering, Software Engineering, Data Warehousing, Cloud Engineering.

  • Proficient in SQL, PL/SQL, and Python with a passion for programming.

  • Experienced in working with DBT in Cloud environments.

  • Skilled in cloud data infrastructure, particularly GCP.

  • Experienced in GCP and its services like. Kubernetes, Dataflow, Big-Query, Composer etc.

  • Experience working with Visualization tools Power-BI, Tableau, and Looker.

  • Familiar with Data Lineage and Governance tools like Collibra and Atacama.

  • Experienced with data stores, data warehouses, big data technologies, ETL, and data lakes

  • Experience and understanding of architecting modern data solutions for both analytics and production use cases.

  • Solid foundation in Computer Science, SDLC, and CI/CD pipelines.

  • Experienced with Agile methodologies.

And any experience of these would be really useful

  • Experience with Snowflake

  • Familiarity with Embedded Finance or financial services applications

  • Familiarity with distributed data frameworks

  • Passion about technology, curiosity to follow current and future trends
