Job Title: Senior Quality Engineer
SALARY: £70,729 - £78,810

LOCATION: Manchester

HOURS: Full time

WORKING PATTERN: Hybrid, 40% (or two days per week) in our Manchester office

Where does this role sit?

This role sits within our Smarter Journeys Lab, a co-located team within the Colleague Channels Platform, where we're building solutions with modern, innovative technology, including AI. We work together on key initiatives to deliver value at pace by designing services that colleagues and customers find useful, intuitive, and engaging to use.

Here’s how you’ll make a difference:

As a Quality Engineer, you’ll be making a real difference, as you'll blend both deep domain and technical expertise within a feature team.

  • Collaborate with Product Owners, Designers, Engineers and DevOps Teams to redefine design, functionality, features and experiments.

  • Drive transformation in quality engineering, play a key role in delivering quality software solutions into production.

  • Participate in Communities of Practice, Guilds and improvement working groups.

  • Coach other members in the team including junior engineer and partner resources.

Skills/ experience we'd need to see:

  • Accomplished Test Automation Engineer helping to develop a robust and future-facing Automation & Frameworks.

  • Knowledge of AI and Machine Learning, exposure to testing AI models and using AI in test automation.

  • Experience in creating UI and API automated tests using automation tools such as Playwright (preferably) or equivalent and understanding of BDD framework with Cucumber.

  • Be highly competent in one of the following languages: Typescript, Javascript or equivalent.

  • Agile experience and experience of working with Jira and Confluence.

  • Clear Communication - both written and verbal, familiar with communicating with business partners.

  • Great teammate with good collaboration skills, with a willingness to improve your knowledge and experience.

  • Growth Mindset - keen desire to lean and develop further.

  • Comfortable participating in workshops.

And any experience of these would be really useful:

  • Performance Testing using tools such as Load Runner, K6, JMeter or equivalent.

  • Working within container technology such as Docker and Kubernetes within a cloud environment such as OCP, AWS, GCP or Azure.

  • CI/CD experience e.g. GIT Hub, Jenkins.

  • Security testing using tools such as Burp suite, Zap or equivalent.
