TITLE: Quality Engineer

LOCATION: Leeds

HOURS: Full time

WORKING PATTERN: Hybrid, 40% in an office site

About the opportunity

We are looking for a Quality Engineer to join our growing team in the Prudential & Analytics platform! You will have the opportunity to oversee testing strategy and maintain reliability, performance, and security of risk management platforms.

You will be responsible for backend data testing, maintain automated testing frameworks, and ensure platform compliance. You will work closely with software engineering, data engineering, product owners, architects, and risk business teams to create a quality-first culture that ensures systems operate with precision, speed, scalability, and security, aligning with both business goals and regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities include:

  • Implementing data testing strategies to ensure data quality and integrity.

  • Applying test data management tools for crafting, managing, and maintaining test data sets.

  • Developing and execute data transformation tests using DBT (Data Build Tool).

  • Performing ETL testing to validate data extraction, transformation, and loading processes.

  • Collaborating with data engineers, analysts, and other stakeholders to identify and resolve data quality issues.

  • Automating data testing processes to improve efficiency and reduce manual effort.

  • Documenting test plans, test cases, and test results.

  • Providing regular reports on data quality metrics and testing progress.

You’ll be passionate about delivering high-quality products and services, keeping a focus on our customers! You’ll build strong business relationships and communicate in a clear, concise manner. You’ll have excellent analytical skills and be able to work methodically with a high level of attention to detail.

What you'll need

Required Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in defining and implementing data testing strategies.

  • Hands-on experience with test data management tools.

  • Proficiency in DBT (Data Build Tool) for data transformation and testing.

  • Strong understanding of ETL processes and experience in ETL testing.

  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

  • Experience with data integration tools and frameworks.

  • Understanding of data quality frameworks and standard methodologies.

  • Understanding of data warehousing concepts and technologies.

  • Experience using BigQuery for data processing and testing.

  • Proficiency in using XRay integration for test management and reporting, including managing test cases, tracking test execution, and generating detailed reports to ensure comprehensive test coverage and effective test management.

Desirable Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of Python for data manipulation and automation.

  • Familiarity with banking risk management functions (e.g., credit risk, market risk, liquidity risk) and their specific testing requirements.

  • Understanding of key regulatory frameworks such as Basel III/IV, GDPR, IFRS 9, and how they impact quality and testing processes.

  • Strong understanding of configuration management and CI/CD automation practices and tools such as Jenkins, Harness, Spinnaker, Gradle, Nexus, Maven, and Git.

  • Expertise in source code management, branching, and deployment strategies.

  • Strong knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and Infrastructure-as-Code tools.
