HOURS:  Full time

WORKING PATTERN: Hybrid, 40% (or two days) in an office site

About this opportunity

At Lloyds Banking Group, we’re moving to the next stages of our digital transformation, and it’s our job within the Chief Security Office (CSO) to ensure that we keep our customers, colleagues and assets safe from threat. The CSO’s Security Data Services lab does this by using data to build security insights by working collaboratively with our Data Management and Analytics teams.

This is a great opportunity for a Data Engineer to join the Security Data Services lab to focus on assisting in the design, development, and maintenance of Data Product pipelines, gaining practical experience whilst working under the guidance of senior data engineers

What you’ll do

  • Implement robust, secure, reliable, efficient, and well-documented Data Products, and participate in design/implementation reviews to learn best practices and improve quality.

  • Participate in team meetings and input into initiative discussions.

  • Work closely with team members to understand requirements and specifications, collaborate with team to identify and fix defects.

  • Assist in the maintenance and support of existing Data Products. Troubleshoot and debug issues as they arise. Help ensure the smooth operation of deployed solutions.

  • Promote active data product custodianship by participating in incident root-cause analysis to identify and act on learnings.

  • Elevate the security, maintenance and resilience of Data Services and Products

  • Invest to develop your data, technical and agile skills. Continuously improve data and technical skills through on-the-job learning and training opportunities. Stay up to date with emerging technologies and industry trends. Seek feedback and actively work on improving data engineering and problem-solving skills.

Why Lloyds Banking Group

We’re on an exciting journey to transform our Group and the way we’re shaping finance for good. We’re focusing on the future, investing in our technologies, workplaces, and colleagues to make our Group a great place for everyone. Including you.

What you’ll need

  • Demonstrable experience designing and building scalable data pipelines and ETL/ELT workflows using modern data engineering best practices.

  • Good understanding of data modelling principles and experience designing data architectures for analytics and operational workloads.

  • Familiarity with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) services including BigQuery, Cloud Storage and Dataflow.

  • Demonstrated experience in supporting large-scale data migrations to cloud-based data platforms.

  • Good level of data literacy: ability to translate business needs into technical data requirements and communicate complex data topics to non-technical partners.

  • Proficient in writing clean, maintainable code in SQL and Python, and experience with version control, CI/CD, and infrastructure-as-code tools (e.g., Terraform) in a data engineering context. Knowledge of YARA-L would be a great plus.

It would be great if you also had

  •   An innovator and change agent who can think out of the box and challenge the status quo to continue to advance our product offering and thus help us protect the bank.

  • Experience in the end-to-end delivery of data products using Agile methodologies and DevOps tooling.

  • Experience of conducting Show & Tells in a high-performance environment to effectively communicate product insights to team members.
