LOCATION(S): Edinburgh, Manchester or Leeds

HOURS: Full time

WORKING PATTERN: Our work style is hybrid, which involves spending at least two days per week, or 40% of our time, at our locations noted above.

About this Opportunity:

At Lloyds Banking Group, we’re moving to the next stages of our digital transformation, and it’s our job within the Chief Security Office (CSO) to ensure that we keep our customers, colleagues and assets safe from threat.

Are you an expert in endpoint security with a passion for innovation? Join our dynamic team as a Senior Endpoint Security Engineer, where we play a crucial role in ensuring the security and integrity of our devices using groundbreaking technologies. If like us, you strive for excellence and are driven by a desire to build the best user experience for your colleagues, then we want to hear from you!

As an engineer in our Modern Workplace Security team within the Chief Security Office, particularly in Microsoft Defender XDR configuration and integration, will shape the future of our security posture. You’ll build scalable, automated solutions with infrastructure as code and modern methods. Though this role does not include direct line management, you’ll mentor junior team members and help drive a culture of continuous learning and security excellence!

In this role, you’ll be responsible for securing client endpoints on both Windows and MacOS platforms. You'll configure and integrate XDR solutions, alongside various operating system security settings, ensuring our threat detection system remains both proactive and robust. By creating automated security solutions using infrastructure as code and API integration we'll improve our operational efficiency.

Striking a balance between top-notch security and a flawless user experience is essential, ensuring our solutions enhance day-to-day productivity without causing disruptions. You’ll collaborate with multi-functional teams to integrate leading security practices throughout the organization and mentor junior engineers, sharing your passion and expertise to cultivate a strong, forward-thinking security culture.

Additionally, you'll actively shape product direction, security strategy, and innovation initiatives, staying ahead of emerging trends and providing guidance on new technologies and effective methodologies to maintain our security.

Why Lloyds Banking Group

We’re on an exciting journey to transform our Group and the way we’re shaping finance for good. We’re focusing on the future, investing in our technologies, workplaces, and colleagues to make our Group a great place for everyone. Including you.

What you’ll need

We understand no one can be an expert in every aspect of Endpoint Security and infrastructure Engineering. So, if you have a strong technical background we’d like to hear from you.

  • Demonstrable experience configuring and integrating security on Physical and Virtual clients (Windows and MacOS)

  • Proficient in developing solutions using infrastructure as code and crafting integrations with APIs.

  • Strong coding and scripting capabilities (e.g., Python, PowerShell) with a consistent track record in automation and system integration.

  • A strong commitment to balancing security with optimal user experience, ensuring that sophisticated security measures enhance, rather than obstruct, usability.

  • Experience in influencing product direction and integrating strategic security insights into technical projects.

  • A growth Mindset, continually looking for opportunities to develop and expand your knowledge.

And, any experience of these would be really useful:

  • Prior experience with additional endpoint security tools and platforms is a plus.

  • Experience with ticketing systems such as JIRA or ServiceNow.

  • Experience of working on a 24/7 Out of hours team rota (occasional out of hours and on call)

  • Working Knowledge of DevOps, CI/CD Pipelines and tools such as Terraform, Harness etc.

  • Relevant industry certifications (e.g., Microsoft Certified: Security, Compliance, and Identity Fundamentals, CISSP) are advantageous.
