JOB TITLE: Responsible AI Lead, Everyday Banking (Open)

LOCATION(S): Bristol, Edinburgh or London

SALARY: Depending on location - from £90,440 for non London based colleagues. From £131,540 for London based colleagues

HOURS: Full time

WORKING PATTERN: Hybrid, 40% (or two days) in an office site

We’re heavily investing in our Everyday Banking products and teams to fulfil our purpose of making finance a force for good. That’s why we need someone special!

Our Commercial Analytics team has created a brand-new role seeking an individual to develop our responsible finance ambitions. As our dedicated Responsible AI Lead, this position will craft and own the AI Governance and Responsible AI strategy for Everyday Banking, aligning with Group frameworks and policies in collaboration with central team policy owners. They will help to ensure our use of AI is ethical, transparent, and aligned with regulatory expectations, working within the team to embed responsible AI practices into our decision-making processes.

We’re looking for someone who is passionate about data ethics and customer impact.


In this role, you'll

  • Drive the development of AI solutions underpinned by robust governance, ethical principles, and regulatory compliance.
  • Demonstrate leadership on Governance and ethics to upskill teams across the business.
  • Provide support to embed governance practices into AI development workflows.
  • Own and manage the team’s risk and control framework to ensure ongoing compliance and accountability, ensuring AI and GenAI risks are proactively identified and mitigated.
  • Represent the team in Data Science & AI Communities of Practice.

What you’ll need

  • Proven experience in Responsible AI or AI ethics, including directly engaging with AI product teams.
  • Experience in program/project management and team leadership.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills across technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Stellar problem-solving and risk identification/mitigation skills in business contexts.
  • Working knowledge of emerging global AI regulatory and legal frameworks.
  • Software development and coding abilities are strongly preferred.
