LOCATION(S): Bristol

HOURS: Full-time

WORKING PATTERN: Our work style is hybrid, which involves spending at least two days per week currently, or 40% of our time, at one of our office locations noted above

This is a senior engineering role within the Transactional Classification Services Lab where our mission is to deliver world-class transaction data enrichment capabilities that drive commercial value. We’re building one of the UK’s most comprehensive transaction datasets, transforming financial insights and enabling market intelligence for Lloyds Banking Group and our customers.

The purpose of the role is to work with the Lab Product Owner to provide efficient leadership and management of the teams in their Labs. Specifically, this requires setting the vision, mobilisation required to deliver it and ensuring effective delivery execution.

It's a critical role to us, as you will drive the evolution of data analytics solutions and AI capabilities, by developing and delivering solutions that are aligned with our group technical strategy and help achieve our lab’s goals and priorities.

What you’ll be doing

  • Providing strategic technology leadership, guiding cross functional teams through agile delivery and fostering a culture of high collaboration and continuous improvement.

  • Leading the planning and execution of software development initiatives across complex, and large-scale projects.

  • Defining and driving the solution architecture strategy, with a strong focus on leveraging Google Cloud Platform (GCP)to enhance scalability, performance and innovation.

  • Owning the technical direction and delivery quality across all phases of the software development lifecycle.

  • Inspiring and mentoring engineering teams, promoting a culture of innovation, technical excellence and professional growth.

  • Managing financial budgets, ensuring alignment between engineering investments and strategic business outcomes.

What you’ll need

  • Cloud Platform experience: Deep understanding of Google Cloud Platform (GCP).

  • Programming Languages: Strong proficiency in Python, familiarity with other languages like Java, Go or SQL is a plus.

  • Team Leadership: Ability to lead and develop high-performing engineering teams and coach and mentor engineers across all levels.

  • Project Delivery: Track record of managing large, complex development projects with multiple stakeholders and dependencies.

  • Budget Management: Experience in managing engineering budgets, resource allocation and cost optimisation.

  • Strategic thinking: Ability to align technical initiatives with broader business goals.

Any experience of these would be useful

  • Exposure to Machine Learning or AI.
