About this opportunity

We’re on an exciting journey and there couldn’t be a better time to join us.

Lloyds Banking Group is rolling out a new operating model for non-financial risk management—empowering our people to take end-to-end accountability for the risks they face and build brilliant controls. We’re looking for someone who can help us transform at pace and deliver outstanding service for our customers.

Here's where you’ll make the difference!

This team is the heartbeat of the CR Chief Controls Office—driving CR-wide activity to help us operate safely and securely, while enabling our business teams to move forward. As the Governance lead, you and your team will keep your finger on the pulse of risk and control performance, join the dots across CR, and find opportunities to improve and drive prioritised action.

Key responsibilities

  • Lead & Develop Team: Inspire a high-performing team culture focused on accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Governance & Risk Oversight: Lead risk activities, support governance forums, and ensure committee effectiveness and compliance with governance standards.
  • Regulatory & SMF Support: Coordinate regulatory engagement and help SMF holders maintain evidence of reasonable steps and governance alignment.
  • Risk Culture & Awareness: Promote understanding of risk and control across the division to embed a strong risk culture.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Ensure visibility of material risks, emerging issues, and remediation progress for key partners.
  • Strategic Delivery: Lead quarterly sprint plans and act as a trusted adviser to senior executives through subject matter expertise and industry insight.

About us

Join us and, as well as making a difference to customers, you’ll enjoy a fulfilling career where you’re free to be yourself. Great colleagues, transforming workspaces, hybrid working and a wide variety of career opportunities – you’ll find them all here.

We’re looking for someone who..

  • Risk & Governance Expertise: Brings strong experience across all three lines of defence, with a solid track record in risk, controls, and governance.
  • Agile & Strategic Thinking: Champions agile methodology and design thinking, driving transformation and a growth mindset across teams.
  • Customer & Business Insight: Deep understanding of Consumer Relationships or equivalent industry knowledge, with a well-rounded view that connects the dots for partners.
  • Leadership & Influence: People-focused leader who inspires high performance and earns trusted adviser status with senior executives through expertise and delivery.

You’ll Also Bring..

  • Strategic Influence & Decision-Making: Skilled in navigating regulatory requirements, interpreting complex data, and making sound recommendations while authoritatively engaging senior leaders to support strategic priorities.
  • Collaborative Risk Partnership: Builds strong, cross-functional relationships with Risk Owners, Control Owners, Risk Specialists, and all lines of defence to drive effective risk management.

If you’re ready to make a real impact and help shape the future of Governance in Consumer Relationships, we’d love to hear from you.
