Supporting Social Housing

Supporting social housing

Helping people get a home is a fundamental challenge we recognise for the UK, which is why it’s a core part of the Helping Britain Prosper Plan.

We have a commitment to support all housing types and in March 2018 we reinforced our support for social housing with the launch of a £500m fund, offering the option of longer lending terms than typically seen from the bigger banks in the housing association sector. This directly supports associations’ development plans and innovation in the Social Housing market.

Innovation in housing

A housing association that has already benefitted from the Group’s debt financing for social housing clients is Karbon Homes, one of the largest housing associations in the North East of England. Karbon owns and manages almost 30,000 homes, covering the North East and Yorkshire.

With our support, Karbon will be able to offer even more affordable housing by fulfilling its ambitious development plans and bringing further innovation into the social housing sector.

The largest lending in housing

Lloyds Banking Group is the largest lender in the housing sector, with a strong commitment to Social Housing.

As part of our Helping Britain Prosper Plan in 2018 we delivered over £4bn of funding to support housing development across the UK. We will build on this support and have committed to deliver a total of £5.5bn of funding by 2020.
