JOB TITLE: Senior Software Engineer (Fullstack) 

SALARY: £70,929-£86,691 pa

LOCATION(S): Chester, Leeds, Halifax & Manchester

HOURS: Full-time – 35 hours per week 

WORKING PATTERN: Our work style is hybrid, which involves spending at least two days per week, or 40% of our time, at one of our offices stated above 

  

ABOUT THIS OPPORTUNITY 

We have multiple openings across our business for senior software engineers with experience in a combination of backend and frontend development to join our growing engineering teams. You’ll be responsible for developing high-quality, scalable services as part of our microservices-based architecture, while continuing to build your skills with the latest tools and frameworks. 

 
In these roles, you’ll get the chance to work with modern technologies, including microservices architectures, cloud-based infrastructure, and containerized environments.  

 

You’ll play a key role in developing, testing, and optimizing back-end services that support seamless user experiences and integrate with various front-end and external systems. 

 

What will you be doing with us? 

  • Design, develop, test, and deploy modular applications, APIs and services using Java, Spring Boot, TypeScript, React or related technologies.  

  • Design, develop, test, and deploy high-quality back-end services using Java and related technologies. 

  • Develop containerized applications using Docker and deploy them in Kubernetes environments. 
    Implement Domain-Driven Design (DDD) principles to create well-structured, domain-focused systems that reflect business requirements. 

  • Practice Test-Driven Development (TDD), ensuring that code is thoroughly tested and of the highest quality. 

  • Be part of a cross-functional agile team, collaborating closely with the Tech Lead, Product Owner and your peers to define and build exciting new financial products for our customers. 

  •  Integrate with front-end components and third-party APIs, ensuring smooth and efficient communication between systems. 

  • Optimize and refactor existing codebases for performance, scalability, and maintainability. 

  • Build efficient and reusable front-end and back-end systems and abstractions.

Essential 

Software Development:  
Strong, hands-on commercial experience in either or both frontend of backend engineering.  

  • Frontend Development: Technical excellence, with strong commercial experience in the full software development lifecycle working with React, Redux, JavaScript, TypeScript, HTML5, CSS3, and Styled Components.  

  • Backend Development: Technical excellence, with strong commercial experience in the full software development lifecycle working with Java 17+, Spring Boot and relational databases. Full-stack experience with JavaScript, TypeScript, React, Node. Proficiency in working with RESTful APIs. 

  • Test Automation: Use modern testing practices and frameworks integrated with CI/CD pipelines. Strong experience of test first development and unit testing with modern testing frameworks and tools such as Jest, Enzyme, React Testing Library, Pact, Cypress and Playwright. 

  • DevOps: Familiarity with CI/CD and build pipelines, using tools such as Github, Harness, Jenkins, Docker, ELK, Grafana and Dynatrace. Take ownership and responsibility for the lifespan of the things you contribute to. A “you build it, you run it” attitude.
