You'll be leading a team of 6 colleagues to provide a first-class remote telephony service to customers with Commercial Lending requirements. By putting customers first, keeping banking simple and making a difference together, we aim to help Britain prosper. The Commercial Lending Direct team is part of Specialist Commercial Banking Sales within the Commercial Banking Coverage Business. We're a specialist Lending team supporting Business & Commercial Banking clients with Term Lending, Overdrafts and Corporate Card facilities up to £250k.

The team is well established and recognised across the business as credit specialists, continuing to drive growth and improvement in support to clients.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Through effective leadership and promotion of equal opportunities, manage, motivate, develop, coach and appraise team members to deliver stretching business goals.

  • Develop the capability and working practices of the Commercial Lending Direct team, supporting them in all aspects of their work, including proposition shaping, workflow management, operational efficiencies and managing all risk and compliance requirements.

  • Regularly monitor and evaluate the team’s performance against business objectives, recognising individual/team achievements and taking corrective action where appropriate.

  • Role model client-centric behaviour through personal demonstration and challenge non-client-centric behaviour when observed in others.

  • Work with existing bank RMs and ADs to maximise in-scope referrals for the Commercial Lending team.

  • Adapt to the evolving commercial lending journey, requiring flexibility and resilience in your day-to-day role.

  • Track record of driving exceptional performance through self and others, with strong prioritisation, organisational and time management skills.

  • Understanding of Commercial Lending, credit experience and awareness of lending propositions and processes, as well as related opportunities and risks.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills combined with analytical and numerical skills to interpret data and support the team with credit assessment.

  • Proactive approach and growth mindset with the ability to adapt and operate within a dynamic environment.

  • Excellent collaborator with a proven ability to cultivate strong working relationships.

And Any Experience Of These Would Be Really Useful:

  • Experience in proposition shaping and workflow management.

  • Familiarity with risk and compliance requirements in a commercial banking context.
