Salary: £70,929 - £78,810
Location: Halifax or Leeds
Hours: Full-time
Working Pattern: Our work style is hybrid, which involves spending at least two days per week currently, or 40% of our time, at our Halifax or Leeds

About this opportunity…  

Exciting opportunity for a Data Engineer to join our Homes Platform to collaborate with the Data Operations, Software Engineers, Data Scientists, and Business SMEs to design, develop, integrate and test Data Product features on the product roadmaps to meet customer needs. 

  

What you’ll do 

  • Engineer Data Products that are stable, scalable, performant, accessible, testable and secure.  

  • Utilising endorsed technologies and applying common build patterns to minimise debt.  

  • Adhering to group policies and frameworks for build and release. 

  • Participate in design/implementation reviews and team ceremonies to better understand the work through planning, commit to clear achievable goals, drive appropriate prioritisation, escalate impediments, act on learnings and demonstrate successes.  

  • Continuously look for reuse, identifying opportunities to automate repetitive manual tasks  

  • Participate in Technical Communities to advance shared capabilities. 

  • Promote active application custodianship by participating in incident root-cause analysis to identify and act on learnings.  

  • Support building a strong team by mentoring early career engineers to advance their technical skills, and by undertaking technical interviews (paired programming) to enable us to hire new engineers. 

  • Invest to develop your technical and agile skills. 

  

What you’ll need…

  • Experience working with Cloud technologies, preferably GCP

  • Experience of building full ETL/ELT pipelines

  • Building data pipelines for streaming, batch and event driven solutions

  • Strong understanding of Python, DBT and SQL for data transformation

  • Leading others within a data environment, using data-driven approach with strong data literacy and analysis

  • Experience mentoring and coaching engineers to build a high performing team

It would be great if you had…

  • Knowledge of mortgage products, pricing process and execution.

  • Experience with containers and container orchestration such as Docker and Kubernetes

  • Experience developing APIs for data consumption
