Job description

The Head of Inclusion role sits within the People & Places function and reports into the Group Inclusion Director and will be responsible for leading our team of Inclusion Business Unit Partners ensuring we meet our Group Executive Committee’s (GEC) commitments and helping to drive inclusion and ultimately transform the business. 

Key accountabilities include: 

  • Providing expert consultancy and leadership to the Inclusion business partners and across the team where required to enable deeper alignment to our strategy and culture ​ 
  • Leading and driving forward our Inclusive Transformation agenda, delivering through others. Understanding the key levers to deliver through others, lifting capabilities and knowledge of DEI across the People and Places function and LBG. Testing new initiatives and being ready to scale these out across LBG as appropriate.   
  • Contribute thought leadership into the future of DEI, education and support required and building the capability across teams to enable a wider impact of DEI across the business, helping LBG to reap the commercial benefits of high performing diverse & inclusive teams. 
  • Bring to life the LBG business case for inclusion, working with the Inclusion Director to create the LBG Inclusion Forum, connecting customer, community and colleagues. 
  • Lead your directs and influence across the team in contributing to the design and ensuring the rollout of Group wide initiatives such as – Group DEI ambitions, Capability building programs, policies and legislative changes 
  • Connect with relevant external industry bodies & Groups to bring an outside in perspective into your thinking​, representing LBG where appropriate. Support DEI with your expertise in contributing to regulatory requirements 
  • Manage risks across DEI and support the business to mitigate these risks ​ 
  • Deputise for the Inclusion Director as needed 
  • Trusted partner for Group Executives in leading their business DEI strategies  

What we need from you: 

  • As Group Head of Inclusion, you’ll stay connected to relevant trends – legal, regulatory, corporate and political affairs, as well as identifying opportunities to learn and apply cross-industry best practice to your thinking and to share with your team​ 
  • Prioritisation and focus on results driven activity that clearly contributes to our overall Group DEI ambitions with the ability to change at pace in a commercial environment 
  • Support the Inclusion Business Partners in providing a business perspective to our Inclusion Specialists, ensuring that we remain connected and aware of any major change projects, activities or broader considerations, as we develop products at a Group level, ensuring we can have maximum impact​ 
  • Collaborate with our Partnerships, Reputation and Engagement manager to identify key partners for our Growth areas and opportunities to maintain and enhance our Group’s reputation as a thought leader for Inclusion.
  • Provide a strong LBG commercial perspective, enabling our business leaders to understand both the commercial benefits to getting this right for our business as well as the direct alignment to our purpose to Help Britain Prosper. 
  • You’ll push yourself and others to see new ways of achieving results and foster an environment that encourages and supports innovation.
  • Strike a balance between challenge & care to provoke the right conversations that hold leaders, teams and individuals to account​.

Required skills

For example, knows what to prioritise for the greatest strategic impact on the organisation. Takes industry and market trends into account in decisions. Explores possibilities that may impact the team or organisation in the future.​ 

Specialist Knowledge - Seen as a trusted authority on all areas of DEI, with deep global knowledge and an ability to take and apply initiative to DEI issues & opportunities across the Group. Uses extensive knowledge and skills to counsel and guide others.​ 

Organisational Awareness - Manoeuvres comfortably through complex policy, process, and people-related organisational dynamics. For example, knows when to use influence to advance the organisation’s priorities and positively shape its direction. Navigates political currents inside and outside the organisation with tact and credibility, remaining flexible as required.​ 

Communicates Effectively – Ability to influence at executive level, you will be seen as a trusted partner to our HR Directors and to our Senior Leadership Teams. Develops and delivers communications that convey a clear understanding of the unique needs of different audiences and their team. Delivers messages effectively to all levels of the organisation. Uses clear and effective writing skills to express ideas, request actions, and formulate plans.​
