JOB TITLE: Software Engineer

SALARY: £47,970 - £53,100

LOCATION(S): Leeds

HOURS: Full-time – 35 hours per week

WORKING PATTERN: Our work style is hybrid, which involves spending at least two days per week, or 40% of our time, at our Leeds office.

The Platform Engineering team is on a mission to create the next generation technical platform for Lloyds Banking Group, a single platform consumed by every engineer and platform across the entire group, you'll be at the heart of one of the UK's biggest financial service technical transformations.

We're looking for an experienced and passionate Software Engineer (backend) to work on our flagship Internal Developer Platform.

The ideal candidate will have demonstrable experience as a software engineer working as part of a team to build performant and maintainable backend solutions.  The candidate will also have a passion for technology and a commitment to delivering high-quality, scalable solutions.

What you’ll do 

  • Design, develop, test, deploy, maintain, and enhance our Internal Developer Platform

  • Work on delivery of features, from prototype to production, ensuring they are well tested, secure, and meet our engineering standards.

  • Inform the product roadmap to ensure we are delivering the right features for our customers.

Who are we looking for

What you’ll need

  • Experience of at least one high-level programming language, preferably Python.

  • Experience building solutions following Infrastructure as Code best practices employing Hashicorp Terraform

  • Experience building and consuming RESTful APIs

  • Experience using relational or NoSQL databases

  • Quality is part of everything that you do, including robust test and release automation.

It would be great if you also had

  • Hands-on experience building solutions for the public cloud (Azure)

  • Passionate about building the best possible developer experience for our engineers

  • Experience working with and building CI/CD pipelines

  • Knowledge of building secure solutions

  • Knowledge of Backstage.io and supporting ecosystem

  • Knowledge of the industry concepts of Internal Developer Platform and Golden Paths or Paved Roads
