SALARY: £70,929 - £80,000

LOCATION: Manchester

HOURS:  Full time

WORKING PATTERN: Hybrid, 40% (or two days) in our Manchester office

Exciting opportunity for a Senior DevOps Engineer to join Smarter Journey as a Senior DevOps Engineer you’ll hold accountability for design, implementation, maintenance and support of DevOps pipelines, tooling/automation at a Feature/Lab team level. This will include recommending the right pipeline and tooling choices appropriate for their Feature/Lab accountabilities, in line with Group Strategy

What you’ll do…

  • Accountable for DevOps implementations at a Feature team/Lab level, ensuring all services/implementations are stable, scalable and performant.

  • Ensuring service levels are appropriate for all DevOps services consumed by the Feature/Lab team

  • Utilising endorsed technologies and applying common build patterns to minimise technical debt

  • Adhering to Group policies and frameworks for build and release

  • Drive relentless automation of repetitive and tedious tasks (TOIL)

  • Actively contribute to Platform level roadmaps around DevOps pipelines, tooling and technology

  • Support building a strong team by mentoring early career engineers to advance their technical skills, and by undertaking technical interviews to enable us to hire new engineers

  • Build your network across the DevOps community within the Group

What you’ll need…

  • Proficiency in managing and deploying applications on public cloud (GCP preferred).

  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform.

  • Strong knowledge of container orchestration using Kubernetes.

  • Understanding of network segmentation and subnetting.

  • Experience with Helm for managing Kubernetes applications.

  • Proficiency with multiple CI/CD tools (Jenkins/Spinnaker/Harness)

  • Knowledge of configuring and managing firewalls for security.

  • Strong understanding of information/network security principles and practices.

  • Experience with managing secrets and certificates, such as using HashiCorp Vault.

It would be great if you also had…

  • Understanding of service mesh concepts and implementations (Istio).

  • Experience with private and hybrid cloud environments.

  • Proficiency in scripting languages (e.g., Python, Bash) for automation tasks.
