About this opportunity

We're the UK’s leading Digital Bank and the largest mobile bank, serving nearly 14 million active online customers. As we embark on building the bank of the future, we're investing £3bn to enhance our platforms, people, and data capabilities, reinforcing our position as the best bank for customers.

Our Platform Engineering organisation is driving a transformation to modernise, accelerate, and standardise engineering practices across Lloyds Banking Group. Now, we’re seeking a passionate and forward-thinking Technical Product Owner to nurture the evolution of our testing and quality engineering landscape!

You'll orchestrate the transformation of our testing tooling into scalable, robust self-services fully integrated with our internal developer platform (IDP). Your vision will champion the adoption of AI-powered solutions to accelerate and enrich testing practices, enabling delivery of high-quality software faster, and with confidence.

You'll lead the end-to-end product lifecycle for testing tools and services, from ideation and requirement gathering to roadmap definition and delivery. Your collaborative approach will ensure close collaboration with colleagues and teams to prioritise initiatives and deliver impactful solutions. You’ll be responsible for driving the technical strategy, defining product requirements, and inspiring a culture of continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Technical Vision & Strategy: Define and own the technical vision for self-service testing tools and quality engineering products, ensuring seamless integration with the IDP and alignment with organisational objectives.

  • AI-Driven Innovation: Spearhead AI adoption in testing, seeing opportunities for automation, intelligent defect analysis, and predictive quality assurance.

  • Collaboration: Build strong partnerships across engineering, product, and leadership to understand requirements, drive adoption, and promote optimised practices.

  • Product Ownership: Capture and define product requirements, develop and maintain product roadmaps, and prioritise initiatives based on customer needs and strategic impact, ensuring delivery.

  • Leadership & Teamwork: Inspire, coach, and lead multi-functional teams to deliver innovative, effective solutions that empower developers and improve product quality.

  • Quality Engineering Expertise: Leverage your experience in this area to ensure best-in-class solutions, focusing on automation, reliability, and continuous improvement.

  • Measurement & Reporting: Define and track key performance indicators for testing effectiveness and quality, using data insights to inform strategy and drive engagement.

Why Lloyds Banking Group

We’re on an exciting journey to transform our Group and the way we’re shaping finance for good. We’re focusing on the future, investing in our technologies, workplaces, and colleagues to make our Group a great place for everyone. Including you.

What you’ll need

  • Demonstrable experience in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.

  • Extensive experience in software testing and quality engineering, with a strong background in delivering testing tools, frameworks, or platforms at scale.

  • Ability to define product visions, requirements, and roadmaps for technical solutions, prioritising work to maximise value.

  • Hands-on expertise in test automation, CI/CD integration, test data management, and quality metrics.

  • Strong understanding of current trends and standard methodologies in software testing, including AI-powered testing and self-service enablement.

  • Demonstrated partner management, collaboration, and leadership skills in multi-functional technical environments.

  • Excellent communication skills, able to engage both technical and non-technical audiences.

  • Experience with cloud platforms, developer platforms, and modern engineering tools is highly desirable.
