SALARY: £43,803 - £53,537

LOCATION(S): Leeds

HOURS: Full time

WORKING PATTERN: Our work style is hybrid, which involves spending at least two days per week, or 40% of our time, at one of our office sites.

About this opportunity

Join the General Insurance (GI) Finance Business Partnering and Planning team in Leeds. We're a key centre for the GI business, working closely with Insurance, Pensions & Investments (IP&I) Finance to provide a key linkage on all aspects of GI. We're part of the IP&I division and have an exciting opportunity for a hardworking accounting professional to join the team.

The Partnering & Planning team is a dynamic, engaging and highly committed team with responsibility across the following broad categories:

  • Forecasting and planning, understanding key business levers and engaging with the business areas to accurately forecast commercial performance.

  • Business partnering multiple customers across the GI business, delivering insightful analysis to help influence business decisions

  • Management reporting including month end reporting, in-depth commercial analysis and deep dives into areas to add customer value.

You'll have exposure to many areas of the IP&I business and also the wider Banking Group. The role requires a self-motivated individual with task prioritisation experience, strong problem-solving and analytical skills, and effective communication. A flexible approach is required – given the demands of the role will continue to vary.

Day to day you’ll:

  • Facilitate the planning and coordination of the 4-Year Operating Plan (4YOP) process for GI, including setting timelines, shaping the approach, managing the process, and presenting the consolidated plans.

  • Establish, build relationships & engage with GI Commercial teams, Finance Partners & Senior leaders to build challenging and credible plans.

  • Modelling core assumptions and scenarios through IBM Planning Analytics, as well as running excel financial models.

  • Consolidating, reviewing and analysing outputs to build a credible, robust plan with valuable commercial insight.

  • Producing standard and ad hoc reports & analysis to the GI FD, GI Business Partners, & business/ divisional stakeholders, using presentation and storytelling techniques to bring the numbers to life.

  • Produce schedules required for Group & IP&I Committees and Board.

  • Manage Risk & Opportunities & Financial Outturns/ Forecasts to support the Quarterly Business Reviews (QBRs).

  • Support the GI Stress Testing (PRA, Reverse, 4YOP, GI) & Scenarios modelling.

  • Provide Finance expert judgement and support on GI & Finance projects impacting Planning.

  • Support 4YOP negative income, working alongside the Cost Management team, CMUs & Sourcing.

  • Drive continuous improvement and simplification of the 4YOP and forecast processes.

  • Operate effective and efficient control and governance processes over the 4YOP process, including detailed checks, reconciliations and challenge of Planning inputs and assumptions.

  • Financial Oversight of Planning models and methodology, including supporting model governance annual validation process.

  • Establish and build relationships with customers to maintain an understanding of expectations, remain relevant, and provide appropriate support and guidance.

What you’ll need:

  • Finance professional with a proven track record gained in a range of roles, with a good knowledge within Business Partnering disciplines.

  • Qualified or part-qualified accountant with relevant experience (CIMA/ ACCA/ ICAEW).

  • Strong analytical & numeracy skills.

  • Display attention to detail and accuracy.

  • Commercial awareness - Experience of and understanding of market and industry environment.

  • Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Excel and good knowledge of PowerPoint.

  • Good understanding of finance systems, architecture and processes.

  • Self-motivated, able to thrive under pressure, and work effectively both individually and as part of a team.

  • Ability to communicate and influence at senior levels.

  • Strong self-management and organisational skills.
