JOB TITLE: Technical Application Specialist

SALARY: £65,385 - £79,915

LOCATION: Leeds

HOURS: Full-time – 35 Hours per week

WORKING PATTERN: Our work style is hybrid, which involves spending at least two days per week, or 40% of our time, at one of our office sites

At Lloyds Banking Group, our Technical Application Service Specialist is a senior technical specialist responsible for leading IT recovery processes during outages, managing operational stability, and driving continuous improvement across service operations.

This role requires a strong technical foundation, leadership in incident management, and the ability to coordinate cross-functional teams to ensure service levels are consistently met or exceeded.

About this opportunity

As Technical Application Service Specialist, you’ll bring your expertise to the table, driving technical discussion in live support management and delivery in key areas. You’ll focus on solving complex challenges with your specialised knowledge taking ownership of critical BAU business management and delivery within your team.

In this role, you’ll lead the way in shaping the direction of our BAU software management and solutions, to make impactful decisions and drive success. You’ll collaborate closely with the engineers, operations and business customers to support feature development and continuous improvements and delivery excellence.

Day to day, you'll:

  • Subject Matter Expertise: Resolve complex service issues and handle customer concerns

  • Training & Development: Lead training sessions to upskill team members

  • Strategic Contribution: Shape service strategy and identify, implement and drive process improvements

  • Operational Accountability: Ensure 24/7 service availability and performance as well as enhancing service quality with other departments

  • Critical Thinking: Analyse data to identify problems and generate solutions

  • SRE and Service Engineering: Use software and automation to manage production systems

  • Technical Operations: Monitor, troubleshoot, and resolve technical issues

What you’ll need:

  • Technical Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve hardware, software, and network issues.

  • Knowledge of ITSM Tools: Experience with ServiceNow , Service Introduction and Jira.

  • Incident & Problem Management: Familiarity with ITIL practices.

  • Documentation & Reporting: Document fixes and contribute to knowledge bases.

  • Problem-Solving Abilities: Implement effective solutions under pressure.

  • Communication Skills: Clear verbal and written communication.

  • Technical Proficiency: Proficiency in .Net, React JS, Windows, Unix/Linux, SQL, PostgreSQL, Oracle, and GitHub.

  • Tools: Experience with UCD, MQ Message Queue, TWS Batch Scheduling, IBM WebSphere, IBM APIC, IBM MQ, Splunk, Dynatrace, Google Cloud, and CMS.

  • SRE & Service Engineering: Advanced knowledge in software and automation tools.

  • Technical Operations: Use scripts and tools to investigate and manage issues.
