JOB TITLE: Lead Infrastructure Engineer

LOCATION: Edinburgh or Leeds

HOURS: Full time

WORKING PATTERN: Hybrid, 40% (or two days) in an office site

The Lead Infrastructure Engineer will lead a team of Engineers within the Security Operations Lab, being responsible for one or more technical products. This role is accountable for infrastructure and security strategy, as well as the technical product roadmaps across the Data Loss Management (DLM) feature team. A key focus will be on improving Data Loss Prevention (DLP) and Data Security Posture Management (DSPM) capabilities, ensuring alignment with business goals, compliance standards, and operational efficiency. This collaboration is crucial for building a resilient, scalable, and proactive data loss prevention strategy!

What We’re Looking For

Strategic Leadership and Technical Direction

  • Define and implement infrastructure and security strategies aligned with business and compliance objectives.

  • Develop and maintain technical roadmaps for DLM, with a focus on DLP and DSPM capabilities.

  • Collaborate closely with the DLM Product Owner to drive product direction, prioritise features, and ensure successful delivery.

Team Management and Development

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team of engineers.

  • Nurture a culture of continuous improvement, innovation, and accountability.

  • Implement structured development frameworks and performance management practices.​

Automation and Orchestration

  • Drive the adoption of automation to improve the efficiency, consistency, and scalability of infrastructure operations.

  • Measure and report on automation outcomes and operational performance to senior collaborators.

Security and Compliance

  • Develop and implement security policies and practices, with a strong emphasis on DLP and DSPM.

  • Ensure proactive risk management and compliance with internal and external regulatory standards (e.g., ISO 27001, NIST).

  • Continuously assess and improve the organisation’s data security posture.​

Innovation and Change Enablement

  • Partner with the DLM Product Owner to modernise data loss management practices and integrate new technologies.

  • Lead initiatives that leverage diverse data sources to develop innovative security solutions.

Product and Service Delivery

  • Lead all aspects of the scoping and delivery of secure, scalable technology products and services.

  • Ensure alignment with customer requirements, business priorities, and security objectives.

What you’ll need

  • Experience leading engineering teams and running technical product delivery.

  • Strong background in infrastructure strategy, automation, and cybersecurity.

  • Knowledge or experience of working in Data Loss Prevention/Data Security and with a variety of DLP or DSPM technology solutions.

  • Ability to handle budgets, develop strategic plans, and deliver measurable outcomes.

  • Expertise in developing and implementing security policies, particularly in DLP and DSPM.

  • Excellent communication and collaborator management skills.

  • Ability to mentor and grow technical talent across the organisation.

  • Familiarity with agile methodologies and tooling.

  • Experience in change management or programme delivery to implement technology strategy and vision.

In addition, any experience of these would be useful

  • Experience with cloud infrastructure, DevOps practices, and CI/CD pipelines.

  • Familiarity with infrastructure monitoring, logging, and alerting tools.

  • Knowledge of regulatory compliance frameworks (e.g. ISO 27001, NIST).

  • Knowledge of Information Security, SIEM, Cyber Defence centre tooling.
