Job description

JOB TITLE: Technical Application Specialist 
SALARY: £59,850 - £73,150
LOCATION: Edinburgh 
HOURS: Full Time – 35 Hours per week 
WORKING PATTERN: Hybrid – at least two days per week, or 40% of your time, in our Edinburgh office 

 

ABOUT THIS OPPORTUNITY 
We’re delivering transformational change for our Workplace Pension customers through the Scottish Widows Platform — a powerful, multi-brand solution supporting over 2.2 million policies and £80bn in assets. As a Technical Application Specialist, you’ll play a key role in our Platform Savings Lab, supporting complex change delivery and ensuring seamless operations across our 3rd party powered platform. 

 

DAY TO DAY, YOU WILL: 

  • Platform & Change Delivery – Manage backlog prioritisation and platform enhancements, ensuring release readiness and post-live support. 

  • Governance & Risk Management – Ensure compliance with LBG governance standards, support audit readiness, and identify risk mitigation opportunities. 

  • Operational Excellence – Maintain platform health, security, and scalability through dashboard reporting and continuous improvement. 

  • Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement – Work closely with FNZ and internal teams across Service, Security, and Operations to resolve issues and deliver outcomes. 

  • Policy & Process Development – Contribute to the evolution of policies and procedures that support regulatory compliance and operational efficiency. 

 

WHAT YOU’LL NEED: 

  • Technical & Platform Expertise – Solid understanding of IT infrastructure, application stacks, and platform scalability. 

  • Governance & Risk Awareness – Experience with technology controls, risk management, and compliance frameworks. 

  • Delivery & Reporting Skills – Proficiency in Jira, Confluence, and dashboard reporting to track performance and progress. 

  • Stakeholder Management – Strong communication skills and ability to work across technical, operational, and third-party teams. 

  • Bonus Points For – Experience with FNZ or similar platforms, and a proactive, data-driven approach to problem solving.
