JOB TITLE:  Data Governance Manager

SALARY: £65,385 to £79,915pa plus an extensive benefits package

LOCATION: Chester or Manchester

HOURS: 35 hours, full time.

WORKING PATTERN: Our work style is hybrid, which involves spending at least two days per week, or 40% of your time at either of our Chester or Manchester hubs.

The Data Management Team in Cards is supporting the fast-growing Cards platform delivering the Cards business acquisition, engagement & data requirements. As a Data Manager you'll own and implement the data governance policies and procedures establishing and enforcing data management standards to ensure consistency and compliance, aligned to the Groups and Divisional Data Offices.

Working within the Data Management Team in the Cards Platform the purpose of Data Manager role is to manage the development and implementation of the Groups data policy & lifecycle, aligning to Producer / Consumer and Data Side of Change accountabilities. You’ll be collaborating with Cards Platform Data Lead, Business and Technical Platform colleagues including, Product Owners, Engineers, Integrators and CDAO, the Consumer Data Lab and the CL Data Office.

Your key accountabilities will include:

  • Ensuring policy is applied for key data assets.

  • Empowering, encouraging, and motivating those around you to take ownership of the initiatives to ensure we achieve optimal data driven outcomes for the business and our customers.

  • Being subject matter expert for data management and governance across the business and platform teams supporting data change activities.

  • Delivering prescribed outcomes by working as directed within established data management systems and procedures.

  • Writing and editing materials for a variety of target populations, tailoring the tone and content to match the needs and expectations of each audience.

  • Identifying shortcomings in existing processes, systems and procedures, then using established change management programmes to deliver prescribed outcomes and/or provide support services.

  • Responding to individual and team objectives and invests in improving personal performance by growing own skills and capabilities, coaching others when required.

  • Navigating a wide variety of existing processes, procedures and precedents to interpret data and identify possible answers.

About you

  • Career background working as a Data Manager & exposure to Data Governance activities.

  • Working knowledge of Collibra for Metadata Management.

  • Tasks to ensure platform application metadata complies with policy via annual reviews and updates through change.

  • Working knowledge of data governance, data quality, data privacy and data controls, plus how they strategically fit in a large-scale organisation.

  • Good working knowledge of data policies and controls.

  • Experience presenting & reporting to a range of key stakeholders.

  • Experience supporting & managing a small team or developing junior staff.

  • If you have any exposure to financial services or credit card products that would be advantageous.
