About this Opportunity

The Traded Products Valuation team is a specialist function within Commercial Banking Finance responsible for carrying out valuation related activities for derivative and traded product exposures across the group. These exposures are cross divisional and offer the candidate insight into exciting businesses include Trading, Treasury and Insurance.

The team acts as a knowledge centre for derivative products providing valuable insight to senior management. We are central to many forward looking / commercial opportunities including new product approvals, significant transaction and IT infrastructure projects. A substantial investment spend has been budgeted for the Markets businesses making it a very exciting area to join.

In addition, the team runs the group's Prudential Valuation Adjustment (PVA) process, working closely with key partners across the bank to improve and optimise the model in a robust and auditable manner. PVA calculations link into many group wide activities including planning and stress testing. Key governance is led by the team including Valuation Committee and Prudential Valuations Steering Committee. The team acts as the initial contact point for PRA regarding valuations.

What you'll be doing

  • Production and oversight of valuations (IPV) activities for key portfolios.

  • Supporting in the preparation of Quarterly Level 3 reporting.

  • Maintaining strong control environment and being empowered and encouraged to improve and simplify processes.

  • Write and present commentary on results, trends and observations to Trading, Market Risk Management and Finance therefore demonstrating a deep and commercial view of the drivers of fair value.

  • Contributing to the new product approval process by reviewing cases for valuation impacts to highlight areas of focus for relevant teams.

  • Become a recognized specialist in valuations and support senior stakeholders with the production of information for PRA meetings and Valuation Committee deep dives.

What you’ll need

  • A proactive, self-motivated individual with a good understanding of Commercial Banking and strong relationship-building skills.

  • A financial qualification or equivalent experience, with strong Excel-based analytical skills.

  • Ability to explain technical concepts clearly to non-specialist audiences.

  • A constructive approach to challenge, helping drive quality and improvement.
