Job description

JOB TITLE: Responsible AI Specialist  

LOCATION(S): Bristol, London or Edinburgh

HOURS:  Full time

WORKING PATTERN: Hybrid, 40% (or two days) in one of the above office locations

We’re seeking a motivated and technically adept Responsible AI Specialist to join the Chief Data and Analytics Office (CDAO) in our AI Centre of Excellence. You’ll be part of a dynamic team driving the ethical, safe, and scalable deployment of AI across Lloyds Banking Group. This role is pivotal in ensuring our AI systems operate with integrity, transparency, and in alignment with regulatory and societal expectations.

What You’ll Do

  • Building guardrails: Deliver enterprise-grade guardrails, aligned to our AI Assurance Framework and Platform Change Framework and embedded in our enterprise tooling, supporting the safe deployment of predictive AI, generative AI and agentic AI use cases 

  • Accelerate Use Case Deployment: Partner with business and platform teams to ensure responsible development and deployment of AI solutions, including third-party assurance and lifecycle governance.

  • Lead Technical Enablement: Provide hands-on guidance on fairness, explainability, and bias mitigation, and help teams adopt best practices in AI ethics.

  • Influence and Educate: Translate responsible AI principles into actionable insights for senior stakeholders, and contribute to training and awareness initiatives.

What You’ll Bring

  • Proven experience applying Responsible AI principles in production environments, including fairness, explainability (e.g., SHAP, LIME), and privacy-by-design.

  • Strong understanding of ethical risk mitigation, bias audits, and governance frameworks such as SS1/23, GenAIOps, or equivalent.

  • Ability to communicate technical concepts clearly to senior audiences and non-technical stakeholders.

  • Experience with agile delivery and cloud platforms (GCP preferred).

Desirable Skills

  • Background in Banking/Finance, especially in collaboration with Risk Control or Model Validation teams.

  • Familiarity with agentic AI risks, hallucination control, and multi-agent governance is a plus.
