JOB TITLE: Ledger Operations Manager – Accounting Operations (12-month FTC)

SALARY: £65,385 - £72,650

LOCATION(S): Bristol Harbourside

HOURS: Full time

WORKING PATTERN: Our work style is hybrid, which involves spending at least two days per week, or 40% of our time, at one of our office sites.

About this opportunity

This is an exciting 12-month FTC opportunity for an experienced finance professional to lead our Ledger Operations team within Group Finance Support (GFS) Accounting Operations (AO). You’ll ensure we deliver in line with SLAs and meet the highest possible standards of Risk and Control in the completion of our deliverables for Group Finance Support and our wider Finance Function.

You'll lead a team of 9 as the manager of Ledger Operations, with support from the Senior Manager, Payments, Insurance Banking Reconciliations and Ledger Operations within AO. AO is a team of c60 colleagues within a wider GFS team of c300 colleagues within the Finance division, with responsibility for the core systems, processes, financial reporting and controls for the Finance Division. GFS also support the function through the provision of Systems capabilities and Divisional Resilience & Security and Strategy implementation.

The role would suit a motivated individual who can develop a team of 9 colleagues to deliver for GFS AO in relation to operational ledger activities, which are key for GFS and Finance through their operation on a daily, weekly and monthly basis.

You'll need to understand the daily, weekly and monthly activities undertaken within the team and maintain oversight to ensure activities are being completed to the highest standard. It’s also a great opportunity to gain experience in a shared service team, giving you wide experience and engagement with other areas of Finance to aid progression.

What you’ll need

  • Qualified accountant (preferable, but not mandatory) or qualified by experience

  • Experience with key finance activities including general ledger transactions and operational finance activities

  • A strong grasp and understanding of Finance’s risk and control framework covering SOX and Risk Open pages compliance activities

  • Ability to manage, motivate and develop a team of 9.

  • Ability to collaborate with the wider group to share best practice and champion high performance

  • Ability to work well under pressure and to tight delivery deadlines engaging and working closely with multiple stakeholders

  • A drive to challenge processes, helping to find the most efficient, accurate and controlled way of doing things

  • A passion for doing things differently, challenging the status quo and embracing the use of new technology (Artificial Intelligence or Automation opportunities)

  • Strong attention to detail in managerial review and completion of key outcomes
