About this opportunity

Join us as an Assistant Tax Manager at Lloyds Banking Group in Edinburgh and you’ll join a team of Tax Specialists, responsible for handling the Corporate Tax compliance and reporting for the Group as a whole.

Working within the Corporate Tax Compliance Team, you’ll provide informative, high quality sophisticated output, advice and mentorship tailored to senior partner needs.

Day to day you’ll be:

  • Helping us prepare corporate tax returns for group entities ensuring compliance with appropriate risk management principles.

  • Interpreting complex processes and lead the efficient and effective production of high-quality output and analysis, anticipating your customers' needs.

  • Providing a professional level of support and assistance to Senior Tax Managers and/or the business, using judgement as to when more sophisticated queries require escalating.

  • Delivering small-scale projects or well-defined tasks on larger projects to improve support to the business.

  • Monitoring and supporting a range of Tax processes and systems to ensure they are effectively maintained and coordinated, recommending improvements.

  • Establishing and building internal relationships to identify business requirements and provide appropriate support and guidance.

  • Collaborating with the finance team to ensure accurate financial reporting and tax accounting. for individual entities and for group reporting purposes.

  • Providing a proactive comprehensive advisory service to ensure that the business is aware of the risks of non-compliance.

What you’ll need

  • You’ll be experienced in UK corporate tax compliance and accounting (specifically IAS12), whilst demonstrating a sound understanding of Legislation and applicable case law.

  • A professional qualification (either accountancy or tax specific such as ATT/CTA) and strong knowledge of UK Corporation Tax are requirements for the role.

  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organisational skills.

  • You'll be a natural when it comes to relationship management skills, with a proven ability to analyse, challenge and influence.

  • You'll be curious about learning how to use technology solutions to provide efficiencies in the team.

  • You’ll be proactive and able to work independently as well as part of a team.

  • This is a Compliance and Reporting role, and you should have experience in preparing corporation tax returns and tax accounting.
