LOCATION(S): Leeds

HOURS:  Full time

WORKING PATTERN: Hybrid, 40% (or two days) in the above location

In the Economic Crime Prevention (ECP) Platform, our mission is to reduce harm to our communities by improving the Group's capability to prevent, detect and respond to economic crime. The Platform sits within Consumer Relationships and plays an important role in providing services across the whole Group!

The Economic Crime Intelligence – Data Platform is looking for a passionate and experienced Senior Cloud DevOps Engineer to join our growing team! If you thrive on enabling high-performing software teams, automating cloud infrastructure, and building secure, scalable DevOps solutions, this role is for you.

You’ll play a key role in crafting and delivering our DevOps strategy, applying modern cloud-native technologies to accelerate software delivery, improve operational resilience, and ensure compliance with security and engineering standards.

There is a strong need for Platform Reliability & Automation as a key focus area in this role.

Your Responsibilities

  • Lead the design, implementation, and maintenance of scalable, secure, and performant DevOps pipelines and tooling on Google Cloud Platform (GCP).

  • Collaborate with engineers, architects, and product teams to embed DevOps practices across the development lifecycle.

  • Drive automation of infrastructure provisioning, deployment, and monitoring using Infrastructure as Code (IaC).

  • Define and uphold service levels, ensuring implementations are stable and observable.

  • Contribute to platform-level roadmaps around DevOps tooling, observability, and cloud-native technologies.

  • Champion the use of endorsed technologies and common build patterns to minimise technical debt.

  • Mentor junior engineers and support recruitment to grow DevOps capability across the platform.

What you'll need

  • Deep expertise in DevOps practices and cloud-native tooling, including CI/CD, source code management, and orchestration.

  • Proficiency with automation and scripting in languages like Python, Bash, or your preferred language.

  • Experience with tools such as Jenkins, Harness, Terraform, and monitoring platforms like Dynatrace.

  • A passion for process improvement, operational excellence, and platform reliability.

  • Ability to lead initiatives independently and influence engineering best practices.

  • Excellent stakeholder engagement, communication, and teamwork skills.

  • Proven experience in DevOps Engineering roles on major cloud platforms (e.g., GCP, Azure, AWS).

  • Proficiency in source control tools and version management for application code and configuration.

  • Hands-on experience with orchestration tools, containerisation (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes), and Infrastructure as Code.

  • Solid understanding of CI/CD pipelines, cloud security, and automation frameworks.

  • Relevant Cloud or DevOps certifications (e.g., Google Cloud DevOps Engineer, Azure DevOps Engineer Expert, AWS DevOps Engineer – Professional).

Desirable Skills

  • Expertise in monitoring and observability tools (e.g., Dynatrace, Grafana).

  • Familiarity with cloud-native services for logging, alerting, and performance tuning.

  • Experience with compliance automation and secure software supply chains.

  • Understanding of cost optimisation in cloud environments.
